Before I retired in 2024, the “worst case scenario” in the Pentagon for the Middle East was both Straits being closed. It was not even imaginable except in PowerPoint briefs and War College gaming scenarios.
Under Pete Hegseth, it has become a reality in less than six months.
Being married to an Indian while claiming that immigrants like her make our country "dirtier" is all the proof you need that the Vice President is a shameless hack who believes in nothing and just says whatever he thinks is in the best interest of his political career.
This is a message to my fellow Americans:
This is what the world is seeing. MOST of us do not support what the White House is doing to Canada, or Greenland, or Cuba, Venezuela, Iran, or any number of other places we're causing trouble.
We cannot be silent about this.
Passengers were frightened, grounded, and cut off from news of a country under attack. Canada's Gander residents did not ask for passports, political loyalty, or reimbursement. They did ask if anyone needed a toothbrush, a phone, or a place to sleep.
Abdul El-Sayed: “When they tell us we cannot have union rights, we won’t back down. When they tell us we cannot have guaranteed healthcare in this country, we won’t back down. When they tell us they want to send our money to do apartheid and genocide and war, we won’t back down. When they come for our basic voting rights, we won’t back down. And when they come to take our voice for the next generation, we won’t back down. It is our democracy and our future we are fighting for”
We live in a country where an alcoholic runs our military, a former heroin addict is in charge of our health and they both report to a convicted felon & adjudicated rapist. And Christians support them all. What a time to be alive 🤪
Today is the 6th anniversary of Trump inviting the Taliban to Camp David to surrender America in a deal, opposed by the Afghan government, that freed 5000 imprisoned Taliban fighters which led directly to their retaking control of Kabul and killing 13 US service members.
Imagine using 9/11 to talk about how Iran should never get a nuclear weapon even though they had nothing to do with 9/11 while signing a civil nuclear cooperation agreement with Saudi Arabia where 15 of the 19 terrorists were from.
Donald Trump welcomed Saudi Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa to The White House as honored guests. One is a walking human rights violation who runs the country most suspected of providing aid to the 9/11 hijackers, and the other is a former leader of Al-Qaeda. And Trump smiled and posed for a picture between them.
But please, tell me more about how Zohran Mamdani attending the memorial at Ground Zero is disrespectful to the victims.
Let me try and get this straight.
If you are a fisherman in the Caribbean and are even suspected of having drugs on the boat, the US has the “right” to automatically kill you.
However, if you run one of the biggest drug rings in the United States, you get a Trump pardon and then a speech at the GOP convention.
Again anyone still supporting Trump is a fucking moron.
*BRILLIANT*
The French made a short film about what could happen after all immigrants would follow the ‘_white, angry old man’s_’ advice to go back where they came from.*
Donald Trump tried to put an innocent man in prison for ten years rather than just admit he was wrong about the damaged Reflection pool. You have to be an evil scumbag to do something like that.
That just is not true. Please stop these ridiculous talking points. I have gone to stand with these families every single year for a decade now. My friends and neighbors are not crying for 6 hours straight. We are greeting each other, hugging each other, laughing at the memories and the jokes the families tell remembering their loved ones. Most politicians do not stay the entire time, in fact every year, at the end it is usually just me and former mayor Mike Bloomberg. This year was different @NYCMayor did. He stayed for every name and even stayed after to talk to families for 45 minutes. My friend who works for the memorial, even told me it was a new record. @AOC , for the record was there at 7:30 am and also stayed for every name and this brief moment they said was of them laughing was just when she walked up to him and said hello.
When I said hello to him with my daughter he even whispered to me after our hug “hi my friend! Hi Zoe! Sorry I didn’t see you, I’m super focused on the stage right now.” And he was. He listened to every story and every name and was there for our community of lower Manhattan. We appreciate you both.
I hope these gross talking points will end.
Why is Fox news allowed to spew lies and disinformation all day long but Jimmy Kimmel can not have an honest interview with James Talarico? We need to fix this country. Please check your voter status and get out and vote - in person if possible.
Politics and history professor Alan Elrod is right. Trump's midterm convention speech had major Jonestown vibes.
"Trump's speech came off more like a sermon from Jonestown, and observers noticed," Elrod wrote. "My own overriding thought was: 'This speech was like some sort of performance art piece of a live entombing of a mad king and his most loyal followers.'"
"Rather than making America great again, Trump is inflicting grievous harm on it with tariffs, now upgraded to import bans against select Canadian goods; an illegal war; and a total ransacking of our public and private sectors for the enrichment of his courtiers and his family. And he is going to bury us all with him in a tomb of his own design — a ballroom."
"These are the ramblings of a neurotic, dangerous madman," Elrod wrote. "If Trump is taking America down, if he is going to bury this country, all the good in it and all its prosperity and potential, then he wants his most adoring and loyal retainers with him. He wants his cult locked inside."
