Topeka, Kansas. April 29, 1934.
92 years ago, TODAY…
That is where Bonnie and Clyde stole the last car they would ever drive.
A 1934 Ford Deluxe Sedan with a V8 engine was stolen from the driveway of Jesse and Ruth Warren in Topeka. That stolen Ford would become one of the most recognized cars in American crime history.
Clyde Barrow was known for liking Ford V8s because they were fast, powerful, and hard for officers to catch at the time.
Just 24 days later, on May 23, 1934, Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow were ambushed and killed near Gibsland, Louisiana.
They were still inside the Ford stolen from Kansas.
The car was riddled with bullets during the ambush and was later returned to Ruth Warren, the legal owner. Over time, it became a traveling attraction and, in recent years, has been displayed in Primm, Nevada.
Most people know how Bonnie and Clyde’s story ended.
Fewer people know their final ride started right here in Kansas.
A small piece of Topeka became part of one of America’s most well known crime stories.

@marissavoss I’ve worn the same combo of the winning outfit as well and have only watched the total number of minutes when we’ve won… which is roughly 27 minutes of the game…
@wildveto@kirillurself At a work conference and planning to have the outfit I wore in my bag during the day and changing into it immediately when I can.
