The cygnets hatched around a week ago. Looks like one non-viable egg is still in the nest and there are four to five cygnets with Mama and Papa. It's interesting how only the odd duck and no other swans were in Wards Pond during all this time.

The swans hatched last week. The nest still has an egg, so it must be non-viable. Then here's Mama with about six cygnets and Papa. Wards Pond is getting really sort of algae choked but they don't seem to mind it.

For the first Time in recent history, a pair of swans will hatch cygnets in Olmsted Park in early May. The female has been nesting on a rather large nest in the water about 6 ft away from the shore. And the male is across the pond just guarding the space.
