@asymmetricinfo Reagan? Happened to us a few weeks ago - gate agent said delays were about an hour due to air traffic control, but the plane needed to board to “get in line”. Our wait wasn’t too bad but the flight before us was at least an hour before they pulled back from the gate.

Four days from now, on May 30, 2025, Corporal Billie Driver will finally come home.

The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) announced on March 7 that U.S. Army Cpl. Billie C. Driver, 18, of Dallas, who was killed during the Korean War, had officially been accounted for a few months prior, on Sept. 9, 2024.

In September 1950, Billie was serving with E Company, 2nd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, Eighth U.S. Army Korea. He was killed in action on Sept. 5 during combat with the North Korean People’s Army near Kumbwa-dong, Republic of Korea. Due to the intensity of the fighting, his remains could not be recovered at the time, and the exact circumstances of his death remained unknown.

On Oct. 30, 1950, a set of remains designated as Unknown X-96 Taegu #2 was recovered near Namwon-dong, along with nine others. While eight sets were eventually identified, two—including X-96—remained unidentified and were buried as Unknowns at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific (Punchbowl) in Honolulu.

On April 15, 2019, DPAA personnel disinterred X-96 and transferred the remains to their laboratory for analysis.

Scientists from DPAA identified the remains as those of Cpl. Driver using dental and anthropological analysis, circumstantial evidence, and mitochondrial DNA analysis conducted by the Armed Forces Medical Examiner System.

Billie’s name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Punchbowl, alongside others still unaccounted for from the Korean War. A rosette will be placed beside his name to mark his identification.

Corporal Driver will be laid to rest with full military honors at DFW National Cemetery (2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211) on Friday, May 30, 2025, at 10:00 AM.

Following the service, the family will gather to honor his memory at VFW Post 7843 (702 E Highway 67, Duncanville, TX 75137).
