@ITProgramsSCC good takeaways from this course! It's great that you were able to simplify all the different concepts that we learned in this course, I'm sure this way it'll be easier to remember :) #EDU6333
@TimPrata gamification was definitely a big eye opener for me as well and somewhat of a new concept. it was fun to play with different games and see how they could be used within a classroom/for educational purposes! #EDU6333
biggest takeaway from #EDU6333: social media and web 2.0 tools can be used in so many ways and has great educational value. I really enjoyed learning about how to use these tools in the classroom
@charcua2school@RI_Teacher I think there is a difference between having social media accounts, keeping them private and students going on and trying to find your profile compared to teachers and students being friends
on social media so that all content can be seen. Definitely a fine line however #EDU6333
here is a link to some best practices around teaching students how to appropriately use the web https://t.co/2iizqpEuGv misusing the web on school computers happens a lot. educators can teach students the consequences of misuse and why it matters #EDU6333
@MPenaAllen @TimPrata sounds like Tim's point was right in the sense that having a mind that understands gaming quickly can give you a leg up. everyone's minds work differently so how can we make gaming an even playing field for students? #EDU6333
as a teacher I always told my students that when you make a mistake, you learn. failing is just that within education. if you make a mistake, you learn what to do next so to not make that mistake again. Can assess problem solving & determination skills within gaming #EDU6333
@charcua2school haha! I do this sometimes too :) I was frustrated at first with the game because I had no clue what was going on/what I was suppose to do/what the point was. can totally relate to you #EDU6333
the game allowed me to think differently and problem solve in a nontraditional way. Davis saw her student engaged in a different way because this student was learning in a different, nontraditional way that met their needs. #EDU6333
found myself engaging in Osterwall's freedom concepts through the Lure of the Labyrinth through experiment, failure, and effort. Wasn't quite sure how identities fit in for me, would be curious if others have ideas #EDU6333
copyright can get complicated and creative commons takes that complication away, seems more cut and dry. thinking about how much info as a student I take from others but I always make sure to reference. @EDU6333
Creative Commons (CC) seems like a good system compared to copyright. I like how the video said CC is translated into words that a human + computer can read, making it easy for the view to see what can be used and what cannot @EDU6333
