Good morning! Happy #TransDayOfVisibility!
The White House and federal agencies put out a number of wonderful announcements about trans rights a few hours ago, and I'm so excited to tell you about them because today should be about trans and non-binary joy. ❤️

What's happening in Texas will lead to higher rates of abuse, harassment, and ultimately suicides of trans children. Greg Abbott is attempting to completely erase trans children from the public square, and trans kids will die because of it. Those are the stakes here.
thought Book Twitter would appreciate knowing about the Museum of Book & Printing in Kyiv, which I visited in 2015. The door is covered in Glagolitic script (the earliest Slavic alphabet); the collections trace the development of Ukraine’s unique manuscript and print history.
Kinder: I have bones. I can feel them and if you get an X-ray you can see them.
Me: And how do you know that?
Kinder: Because I am a mini-scientist.
Me: Yes, ma’am you are.

Ch 10 of
#BrillianceAndStrengths names areas for future research w/r/t preschool, including: What is the intersection among sci & eng & play?
What research would YOU like to see in early childhood science and engineering?
Recommendation 9 of #BrillianceAndStrengths says: Preschool & elem school leaders & teachers should engage & collaborate with families & community leaders to mutually support children’s opportunities for engaging in science & engineering.
Ch 8 of #BrillianceAndStrengths emphasizes that professional learning experiences for teachers should focus on specific teaching practices & provide opportunities to analyze artifacts of practice like exs of student work.
The #BrillianceAndStrengths report shows how integration can work toward equity: increasing instructional time & thus access, broadening representation of science & engineering, valuing many approaches to sensemaking, & generating authentic texts about local justice issues
Thank you @ashandchess for this helpful map illustrating where anti-trans bills are currently being pushed in the United States.
Most of these bills target trans and non-binary youths in healthcare, sports, and other rights. Reach out to your legislators and fight these bills!
The #BrillianceAndStrengths report emphasizes the need to diversify the teacher ed workforce & placing preservice Ts in field placements where kids come from a variety of cultural & linguistic backgrounds. How else can TE & prof learning support Ts in learning equitable practice?
@KRScienceLady@NGSS_tweeps I work at a science museum and teachers often say they see their students in a new light when they can watch them making and exploring with us. But getting out into the world with students can be hard these days.
Conclusions 2 & 3 of #BrillianceAndStrengths say:
Sci & eng instruction is under-resourced & not highly prioritized in PK-5. On avg, there is much less instructional time devoted to sci & eng compared to ELA & math.
What do you & the children you know value about sci & eng?
