📉 2026s: What’s Really Happening in Recruiting Right Now?

If you’re a 2026 and feeling like things are moving slower than expected in the recruiting process… you’re not alone.

I’m seeing a clear trend:
➡️ Coaches are being more selective.
➡️ Outreach is slower.
➡️ Commitments aren’t happening as early or as often as they used to.

Could this be the new normal in recruiting?

Here’s what’s influencing this shift:
🔁 The Transfer Portal – Programs are holding spots open for experienced transfers.
📦 Player Movement – Internal transfers and late commitments are causing roster instability.
📉 Smaller recruiting classes – Coaches are prioritizing need over potential.

So what should you do?

✅ Stay the course – Your process may look different than past classes, and that’s okay.
✅ Be proactive – Keep emailing, attending camps, and building connections.
✅ Stay ready – Work on the parts of your game that coaches care about most (athleticism, versatility, character).
✅ Have a wide net – Don’t limit yourself to one division or conference. Find your best fit, not just the biggest name.

Most importantly:
✨ Your timeline is not broken.
The recruiting world is changing. Trust the process.
