"No regrets, only memories."
Boston Marathon great, Des Linden, bowed out in style today, after confirming this morning that today's race would be her last marathon as a professional.
Thanks for so many great memories, champ!
2018 Boston Marathon champion @des_linden announces the 2025 Boston Marathon will be her final professional marathon.
She shared the following in a full page spot in today’s Boston Globe:
“DEAR BOSTON
I made my debut at 26.2 on your roads in 2007 and fell in love — with the distance and with the Boston Marathon. Four years later, we were in it together as you lifted me up through the Newton Hills, carried me as I turned right on Hereford and left on Boylston, and brought me within two heartbreaking seconds of victory.
But you never gave up on me, inviting me to keep showing up. Hell, you embraced the fight, because Boston knows grit. The victory in 2018 wasn’t just mine, it was ours.
People say you should go out on top, and that’s what I’m doing — because getting to race my final professional marathon in Boston is indeed going out on top. I’m ready to leave it all out on the course one last time. See you on Boylston.
Thanks for all the years and all the cheers.”
Nothing’s better than having the worst week of your career and having a buddy call your office phone pretending to be an irate parent 😂 cherry on top of the week from hell
The queen of New York 👑
Sharon Lokedi wins the 2025 United NYC Half in 67:04, improving on her fourth place showing from 2022 three years later and becoming one of the rare NYC Half/NYC Marathon double champions in the process.
It’s a wild day when I’m more excited for an indoor mile than a road championship or a World Major, but I just can’t help but love The Goose. It’s been an A++ weekend for running
Shoot for the moon and if you miss, you’ll still run really fast 😅
Yared Nuguse’s attempt to reclaim his world indoor record in the mile comes up just short, but he nevertheless clocks a dominant 3:47.22 victory. Nuguse now has four of the ten fastest indoor miles ever run.
