There's been a lot of discussion about content warnings, stemming from a publisher adding a "product of its time" warning to Virginia Woolf. A common argument was that it didn't hurt anyone and besides TV and movies have ratings. Well, this is where all that nonsense ends up.
Question about community: "who are these crazy people?" Me, me! I'm one of those crazy people. An oss community is a totally different animal than a user group. #ALAAC23
For one thing, oss community members are an equal partner with the vendor. The vendor doesn't always have the last word. It's a meritocracy where a person can build trust in the community to help lead its direction. #ALAAC23
Open source can be more challenging than a system where one entity makes all the decisions, @shammer46 says, but "thereโs a richness that comes" from getting involved in the collaboration. I concur. #ALAAC23
From @lisacarlucci: We don't have time to reinvent the wheel...We innovate and make the product better by releasing that code, releasing the documentation. #ALAAC23

@roganhamby I've decided I'm going to use that one sentence as a prompt for my entire presentation at ALA. I should be able to get 45 minutes of material out of it.
@roganhamby The innovation he cited earlier on often is a direct result of a model that allows libraries/consortia to take control of their software. I have seen how empowering it can be when a small quality of life improvement that would get lost in a user group process becomes a reality.
@roganhamby I finally got around to reading it, and my quibble is the underlying assumption that the development model is an abstract preference and not something that provides tangible benefits.
From my blog: Sharing appreciation for my Evergreen ILS colleagues who accepted the Tuit Challenge and some news about next steps in my career. https://t.co/b7GtNDp185 #evgils#EvergreenILS
Somebody misentered their email address when placing an order through @Makeship and their order information was sent to me. I'm now marveling at the large amount of PII that just magically dropped into my Inbox through what was probably a small typo. #PrivacyMatters
@gmcharlt The cat always comes before coffee, which speaks to how highly I think of the cat. I'm pretty sure I would push my own kids aside to get to my coffee mug.
