@1a re COVID & masks: for those of us with little kids, the B.1.1.7 variant means the pandemic continues for us. I wish playgrounds/public spaces required masks for kids. There’s no way to know which parents are vaxxed or not, how careful they are- or not. It’s so stressful.
As a HS teacher I was subject to two lockdowns - they are terrifying. You feel like a trapped rat in your classroom. Now I teach college, & after Parkland campus police told us it took less than 3 min for Cruz to enter and kill 17 ppl. They said we wouldn't have a chance.
It wasn't until I lived abroad that I realized the constant background fear I carry in the US. & only then because I realized I was safer there than in my own country - it was the absence of fear that alerted me. I grew up hunting, but handguns + school shootings create anxiety.
does living in a country where a mass shooting happens almost every day and nothing is ever done about it seem as fucking horrifying on the inside as it does from the outside?
THIS. For those of us with kids the pandemic is in the forefront. The B.1.1.7 variant infects children and adults at equal rates. Cases for infants - 9 yr olds up 230% since mid-Feb. But sure, keep schools open & tell gparents they can travel instead of addressing this issue. 🙄
CDC Director Walensky becomes emotional during today's covid briefing, saying she's ditching prepared remarks because she's scared of rising case numbers in the US. "Right now, I'm scared...I so badly want to be done...so I'm asking you to just hold on a little longer."
“Some people want to add things called ‘seatbelts’ to cars and require drivers to wear them as a safety precaution. Translation: they’ve clearly never driven a car before. How am I supposed to drive when I’m belted to the seat?” https://t.co/AmTvDOQFoo
@shaindelr She sees women decades after giving birth who still have “incontinence”, ie peeing while sneezing/laughing. With the right exercises they’re better in a few months. I did post-birth PT with her and it was transformative. It’s total bs that most mothers don’t get this care.
@shaindelr I had a physical therapist during my 2nd pregnancy who specializes in pelvic health post-birth, & not only did she recommend PT post-birth, but that France, Australia, etc. send PTs to mom’s homes to prevent this very problem. Her book to help fix this! https://t.co/QfBmC8wrKY
