To my educator peeps... you don’t have to be an administrator, grade level chair, or department head to be a leader in you school. Your title doesn’t matter. You just need to care about making it better.
Passion and commitment can transform any culture.
When teachers are dedicated to providing support and encouragement to their students, they make the school a great place to learn.
When they are dedicated to providing support and encouragement to their colleagues, they make the school a great place to work.
There is a teacher that both my sons had in high school. They both raved about her. I remember asking my younger son what he liked about her. Without hesitating, he said:
“She cares so much! She cares so much about her job!”
Kids notice.
A lot of kids don’t like school.
That’s the reality.
When the adults in the building get to know those kids and genuinely care about them… they can turn that around.
That’s also the reality.
Our teachers work so hard to create fun and meaningful learning experiences for our students… and that absolutely fires me up!
Teachers don’t just teach standards… they create memories.
5 tips for building class climate:
1) Talk to kids when they walk into class.
2) Learn 1 thing about each student.
3) If you have to get on to a kid, do it privately.
4) Apologize when needed.
5) Don’t take yourself too seriously.
