The whole debate could be solved by saying "all art has something to say" (either about the artist, the world, or the viewer) instead of "All Art is Political", but that would make it impossible to feel smug about everything.
This drawing places the value of a woman in her purity and desirability. Which is a deeply misogynistic philosophy.
Her long hair, slender features, and sharp facial features showcase her traditional femininity.
Her loose turtleneck, billowing overcoat, and demure expression portray her as reserved.
That reservation combined with her connection to nature are meant to portray her purity as a woman.
To contrast her reservation, her thighs are exposed, only covered by her coat and high socks. This area of the thigh exposed by thigh high socks is frequently fetishized by Japanese men due to their common appearance on the middle-school and high-school uniform of young girls.
The point of this drawing is to depict a woman as valuable because she possesses traits desirable to a man. She’s feminine, she’s reserved, she’s pure, she’s sexy, and she’s young. Drawings like these often act as symbols for men to judge women by. As a result or as a cause of the art’s creation, men feel disappointed by the reality of women existing for their own happiness in comparison to a fictional woman whose entire purpose is to serve their desire.
So, do I think the artist is a misogynist? Well, I think the artist is human. A human who has lived their entire life in a culture drenched in misogyny, and inevitably makes art reflecting that culture. I doubt the artist put any conscious hate into this drawing. I do honestly believe they just wanted to draw a pretty woman. But all art is a reflection of the real world. So it is impossible for art to exist and not say something about the real world, no matter how small.
ALL art is political. Yes, even that one.
@Falcon_nikke@PhantomNIKKE While that is true, it still kinda misses everything in a game that isn't gambling. Arcade games would siphon money out of the players by making you play in short bursts, preying on people craving dopamine hits, but there's more to the games themselves than that.
@hoshiberuu It's just idiotic doomposting by people claiming they don't want drama while craving it. People were sounding alarms during Miracle Snow because winter Rupee had a small skirt that wasn't in the "leaked" version and even made edits of her in a hijab. And that was in 2022.
@notmiruthebear Are people making fun of her looks? She looks cute. I feel really bad for her, though. Must be devastating to have stuff like this spread around as a vtuber, or anyone trying to stay anonymous.
@Elantharis There's stuff to criticize with plot, but so much of criticism I see kinda misses the mark, and the point of the story. Similarly, with the Scarlet design, there's validity to the lost "agility" aspect of her, but a lot of it ends up sounding like she needs to be naked or else.
@harharvestsun@NastyPecker The first girl you meet that you grow attached to over the prologue gets her brain corrupted. You have to put her down, but can't go through with it. She clasps your hands, guides the gun to her head and pushes on your trigger finger while thanking you for being kind to her.
@NorthernIion_LP It's a story focused gacha with some ecchi stuff. While the gameplay isn't the most engaging, nor does it require much skill, the story and the characters are written very well.
As far as gacha elements go, it's also rather generous.
@zinfian The vast majority don't think Nikke is a yuri game, they just want to post stuff like yuri art or female commander headcanons without getting jumped for it.
It's an extreme reaction to hostile behavior.
