There is no surprise when these politicians refuse to attend debates or respond to media stories. They are not only woefully misinformed, they are wilfully ignorant. They rely on public apathy as they avoid defending the indefensible. Our children deserve more.
Senior admin and principals of the #GECDSB- Thank you for working tirelessly to prepare for the opening of our schools. Your work is not going unnoticed. #grateful
@aliciahiggison@bonstewart Not only disrespectful, but intentional. Seems clear blame is slowly being downloaded to boards. I can hear it already - “I gave them this, I gave them that, they just didn’t do it”.
@shelley_stalker I do understand fully online won’t be feasible for some/many. I propose it only as a safer option than fully returning. Lots of parents being forced in to making an impossible choice due to lack of any creativity, safety, or flexibility in current elementary plan.
@shelley_stalker That’s a great question. I’m sure there is an answer safer than our current plan. Eg. In England they had school open for children of essential workers only for a time and I believe it worked, as it kept class sizes low and allowed for all distancing and safety measures to occur.
@shelley_stalker However, once they started to allow more children to return, outbreaks occurred and (not related to school outbreaks) the country is now partially locking down areas again. It seems strict limit on class size is key, and when it was just children of essentials workers, it was ok
@MontyMike5 I agree that improvements could be made with the online side of things for a lot of people. Before, it was done on the fly. Time now should've been spent making expectations and examples clearer of what it should look like.
@WendydenOuden1 @Ms_Whittaker_GE @imgrund That is interesting to me. With our increasing community spread, you get the sense we should be moving back a stage, not pressing on. Data does not seem to be influencing decisions too much, so I expect we will be pushed to stage 3 soon enough.
@WendydenOuden1 And the fact that rotary teachers bring their 100+ contacts into our cohort of 30 for 50 minutes every day, further accelerating spread across a building. Scary indeed, and completely opposite to every piece of advice we have had from the health unit since March.
