Knights of the Raj started in Birmingham with a 4 month long exhibit. We then took it to New York. Here's an AJ+ story on it. London version in the pipeline!

Lebanese/Moroccan goodness supplied at our #soulfiresunday this weekend courtesy of Tabule Kitchen a new place in Moseley Birmingham- from the same guys at Al Bader.
The 2nd of a series of videos pieces I am working on exploring the very simple question of 'why we need art?' Too often we are not able to break it down in a tangible form. Manga artist @AsiaAlfasi responds. @weareamal #soulfiresundays#amalsupported
In 2019 I was invited to mark Birmingham's 130yr old city status. Nothing beat including archival footage of MalcolmX's visit to the city into a film I made projected onto the City Council House-had no idea he also ate at Chamon Indian Restaurant owned by friend of my late-father
Bangladeshi-owned restaurants in the 50s/60s were more than just a place to eat. They became social hubs, used for meetings of political activism & hosting of figures from abroad, like in this pic of Malcolm X's visit to Birmingham. They were essential for communities to flourish
This Is a faded sign of the long-gone Chamon - a Bangladeshi-owned indian restaurant in Selly Oak Birningham from the 60s that once hosted Malcolm X for a kebab #ghostsigns
Days before his assassination, Malcolm X came to Smethwick, near Birmingham, in support of migrant's struggles. This photo has surfaced from a Bangladeshi curry-house. Great joy seeing 2 great influences in my life in 1 photo. Seeking to identify the restaurant or anyone present.

Our regular #Soulfiresundays event a snippet- what it really is. Imagine: family friendly space with cutting edge visual art, authentic curry, vinyl spinning soundscapes & great conversation. This is what we do- countering the polarisation of communities by the 'powers' that be

The #CromerStreetMural I did became known as 'Bangladesh BladeRunner' based on the visuals. We're now in the timezone of the film 2019-what is the future of Brick Lane/Bangla Town/Multicultural London? Did early migrants from Sylhet imagine this London they're in now? @BritBangla
Although the @knightsoftheraj is a heritage project highlighting stories of the historic curry trade through exhibitions, dining events & art installations from Birmingham to New York, we have an award category at @AsianCurryAward Excited to present to elders from the community
Excited to present our Knights of the Raj legend award for elders in the community at the @AsianCurryAward with @MayorofLondon opening up the ceremony.
