The Norwegian Viking Row has been one of the most iconic fan celebrations of this World Cup. It got me wondering: how many rows would it take to get from Boston (where they're playing today) to Oslo?

Boston -> Oslo is about 3,000 nautical miles (~5,500 km). At a relaxed pace, each stroke moves them about 20 meters. That works out to roughly 275,000 strokes to reach Oslo.

At 20 strokes per minute, that's 13,750 minutes of rowing or about 13750/90 = 150 full matches.
