A recent 5yr Belgian study shows the BIG impact of increasing vehicle weight on road deaths & injuries.
When a person on a bike or walking is hit by a pick-up, the risk of serious injury increases by 90% compared to a car.
Risk of death goes up by 200%.

Let’s have the FCPN data for the most recent proposal to have every Garda member spend 30 min/day on traffic law enforcement. There should be a massive uptick. Show us that data.
How this priceless gem is allowed to be a glorified car park & a builders dumping ground is beyond me

Great to see the cut stone from the recent damage to Parliament Bridge being removed from the river.
Fingers crossed that this protected structure will be repaired carefully by competent and skilled craftspeople

We and others have pointed out @corkcitycouncil neglect of the new work on MacCurtain St to the point where businesses on the St have to pay extra to maintain it themselves. Great work @PrioryCoffeeCo but Cork City Council needs to get their act together.

A very angry rant:
For years I have told the @RSAIreland that training is the answer for all the traffic collisions. Retests should be required when you have more than 6 points.
Punishments should be severe for drunk/drug-driving
Every ten years you must resit the driving test in full
New drivers should be tested on motorways and dual carriageways.
Fail the driving test more than three times and the instructor should be examined.
Driving instructors should take a real advanced driving course that tests and improves their skills.
Newly qualified drivers should have to sit on the same advanced driving course.
Years of targeting speed through costly TV ads and the numbers are dismal. Any experienced driver in Ireland at the moment is full of horror stories of the madness on the roads.
We see it every day now, near misses, driving in the centre lane looking at a phone, inappropriate speeding, aggression and near-zero policing from a lack of Traffic Corp, and speed vans which are having no effect.
The increase in road deaths is now the worst in Europe and what I'm saying seems to fall on deaf ears as I'm only moaning unlike the "journalists" that are paid to put out messages that no one is listening to.
We should be in a great position with a small population and a sea border but we don't know what causes the crashes because GDPR problems that the department has hidden behind for years.
Meanwhile, we are at the bottom of the table and that's the reality.
Thanks to Minister @EamonRyan for informing that he's approved a new policy to address issue of learner drivers continually renewing a permit without ever sitting a driving test and conveying to RSA that a learner must sit a test before they are eligible for additional permit.
The obsession with shared space from @corkcitycouncil is well behind the standards expected in projects like this.
The Irish Cycling Campaign @cyclistie have raised our concerns about this with the NTA in recent weeks.
.@kierancuddihy suggesting on @TheHardShoulder that e-bikes are only replacing conventional bikes in modal share on our roads. A lot of good research suggests that e-bikes are mostly replacing cars. https://t.co/S4C3BPFINs.
This is an excellent result if it follows through!!
The RSA simply cannot function as intended, while it’s reliant on the volume of cars on the road for its funding
We’ve been campaigning for reform for quite a while, and it looks like it might happen!!
