What does 10ft of #sealevelrise look like locally? What’s the impact to the @knoxschool? What’s the impact to nearby #LongBeachTownPark & the peninsula? Our middle school scientists sought to make the local impact of #climatechange real by going to the waterfront w/meter sticks!
For #EarthDay middle school scientists explored what #ClimateChange means locally. We used @NOAA’s #sealevelrise visual tool to see how our @knoxschool is impacted by ocean rise. Here’s Victoria’s (6th grade) before/after drawing showing the impact to Knox & our surrounding area.
We are always taught that falling objects have an acceleration of 9.8m/s/s, but what about with air resistance? AP Physics I students investigate with light objects. Slope = acceleration and slope decreases as initial height increases. #stemeducation#theknoxschool#nicegraphs
#Einstein’s Theory of #GeneralRelativity is our guide as to what we expect to see when we look at the environment around a #blackhole. So Wednesday’s press conference is doubly important! Not only will we “see” what a #BlackHole looks like, we will also know if #EinsteinisRight!
Heads up scientists!! Big news to be announced next week!! #BlackHoles are a mathematical construct for which we have compelling physical evidence for its existence but have never seen directly. Until now. #EinsteinWasRightAgain#ScienceRocks
#AnthropogenicClimateChange is the biggest issue facing all of us on the planet. In #middleschoolscience we are looking at it through 5 different lenses to attempt to create a robust solution. Thanks to @theNASciences’s @labxNAS for the wonderful resources to tackle the problem!
Let's show some love to the M of our STEM. Middle school students found that pyramids with the same base shape and same height are exactly 1/3 of prisms. #STEMeducation#putthatMinSTEM#volume
