@enjiashido@KalalaKiller I know dude is smart and understands writing so I think he understood the movie as well. I still think that he retroactively came up with p2 but I think he had a clear vision for what he wanted to do but he ended up getting burnt out or something and rushed to the end
@enjiashido@KalalaKiller He’s not conventional but he’s always had a level of quality to his writing though and it felt lacking for p2. That big Lebowski quote in particular because boiling that movie down to just a bunch of random shit happening is either a misrepresentation or a fundamental-
@enjiashido@KalalaKiller Those jump people are evil man. With all the pointless shit in p2 and what now looks like damage control to me that he was running pre serialization I wouldn’t be surprised if the idea was thrown at him close to the end of p1 and the bag started speaking to him to make p2
@enjiashido@KalalaKiller Sure but all the setup happens in the last 3-5 chapters. I think the p1 ending was written open ended intentionally after csm boomed in popularity so that it could be followed up on once they realized they could get a bigger bag out of the series tbh. Theory crafting sure but-
@enjiashido@KalalaKiller I just think that taking that quote in mind it almost seems like he wasn’t confident in the direction he was taking the story for whatever reason so he advertised it as a “different thing” before serialization
@enjiashido@KalalaKiller The author telling you to treat 2 parts of the same story as different things doesn’t set off any bells in your mind? P1 could have never gotten a follow up and the ending would have been acceptable at worst. There’s not really a ton of setup outside of those last few chapters
