Important debate in the House of Commons on 🇩🇪🇬🇧 relations. The phrase “Vorsprung durch Freundschaft” stuck with me, as MPs highlighted the #KensingtonTreaty as vital in an age of instability. Great to also hear strong support for people-to-people ties, including town twinnings.

It’s been a historic State Visit by President Steinmeier & Elke Büdenbender. My sincere thanks to Their Majesties The King & Queen, and to all who helped make this visit so memorable. It marked the culmination of a year in which we’ve taken the 🇬🇧🇩🇪 friendship to the next level.

German President Steinmeier and his wife Elke Büdenbender were received by HM The King and HM The Queen in Windsor today at the start of the three-day State Visit.

It is the first official state visit by a German President to the United Kingdom in 27 years.

His Majesty King Charles III has announced that he will host German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his wife Elke Büdenbender for a State Visit from 3-5 December. It will be an incredible moment for 🇬🇧🇩🇪 relations and the first State Visit by a German President in 27 years.

I'm Susanne Baumann - Germany's new Ambassador to the UK and I'm delighted to be back in London, where I started my diplomatic career.
