I can now low key support the Ottawa Senators. My extreme dislike of Brady Tkachuk meant that I couldn't stand them. I like most teams and only dislike the Panthers and Lightning and loathe the Vegas Golden Knights. Rest of the teams I either like a lot or don't hate.
I keep hearing William Karlsson being injured was a huge factor in the Vegas Golden Knights not winning the 2026 Stanley Cup. Isn't that a risk issue if one player can have such an adverse effect? This wasn't the first time he was out this season - shouldn't they have had a plan?
What I love about the 2026 Stanley Cup Final: the Carolina Hurricanes despite being dismissed as not being a "team of stars" ended up subverting expectations & being a star team of good players who at least appear to be decent human beings. Feels like a sports feel good movie :)
They keep saying the Carolina Hurricanes have no stars, but I wonder if this is what helped them stay healthy and be able to have a genuine all-team contribution?
What I have learned this year is that if your surname is Laz(a/e)rus (like @JLazzy23 or @MarkLazerus then you are not allowed to ask the Vegas Golden Knights about goalie Carter Hart.
Media after the Carolina Hurricanes defeated the Vegas Golden Knights 4-2 in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final. It was super cute how Andrei Svechnikov was given the option to bail but decided to stick around and listen to the multilingual Nikolaj Ehlers answer in German haha
@reese_p@wyshynski@GoldenKnights Not really, though. People are still going to focus on the performance of the team. Fans and adversaries alike will be examining everything under a microscope
It's fun seeing all the hockey commentators who had backed Team Evil (Vegas Golden Knights) shuffle and sidle furtively back towards the centre again as the Hurricanes play well. Hoping so hard that the Hurricanes can win. Not even a Canes fan - just ANYONE but Vegas please.
@HeyHeyWadayaSay@rbarkleyhockey Follow on comment: he was acquitted so definitely should be allowed to play again - but probably doesn't deserve the hero's come back / glazing that the hockey commentators are giving him i.e. let him play, he was acquitted. He's not a hero and probably not a good guy
@HeyHeyWadayaSay@rbarkleyhockey It was messy all round but some of the evidence wasn't admitted and if you read it, no one is covered in glory. They were all drunk, the guys covered for each other and they expect me to believe one woman 'bullied' / shamed ten 18 year old hockey players into screwing her etc
After game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final all the hockey media (mainstream & podcast) wrote off the Carolina Hurricanes & essentially said that Team Evil /Vegas Golden Knights were going to win the Cup ... funny seeing them walk back to the middle & wait and see who actually wins :D
@TheAthletic The "criminal standard of proof" wasn't met so legally,Hart was acquitted & has the legal right to be employed. No one can or should stop him from working. He shouldn't be celebrated for bad albeit not criminal behaviour. Winning isn't = automatic redemption though so thank you
