It has been 9 weeks since the NDC announced that the IMF has left town. Today they’ve brought loans of nearly $1 billion to parliament for approval. The same party that said the NPP over borrowed has started borrowing billions of USD, 9 weeks after the IMF left. This is bcos govt has chosen to spend the limited resources on pushing nice headline figures while the lived experiences of people say otherwise. Dear NDC get the revenue measures right so you don’t have to go this way. Prioritize expenses so you spend treasury resources on what matters most.
Several NDC persons whose submission of no case had been rejected by the courts and had a case to answer, have been left off the hook by the NDC prosecutors and the courts. Instead, Wontumi has been jailed not for illegal mining but that someone who he argues he gave his company’s former mine to, for purposes of reclamation was found doing mining on it. And yet the actual illegal miner has been set loose rather. This is not law or justice. It is a weaponising of the justice delivery system. This is why the NPP considers Wontumi a political prisoner. The justice system has been turned upside down.
I need the Government to Jail a lot of “important” opposition personalities and I need Npp to keep malice so that when they return to power they can reciprocate the gesture and that way we can keep both parties accountable and on their toes
The constitution review commitee in par 4.155 of its report, recommends the de-establishment of tribunals. The govt told the ctee it will present the final report to Parliament thus the ctee need not engage Parliament on it.
While the Govt claims it is now finishing a white paper on the report, it has hurriedly brought to Parliament a bill to establish tribunals.
Last night the entire bill was hurriedly rushed through Parliament despite protests by organized labour, lawyers groups and the minority. CSOs and Interest group views all dismissed. Justice delivery is about to be bastardized in its highest form. Cry my beloved country.
