Peer review went well today. It was nice having someone new read over my Grant. Going forward to the final revision process, I have some fresh ideas and insight on how to fix things. Not much to be done but some minor tweaks could be huge for a good grade.

@tanney4dh @hltcnu23 Reflecting is definitely something I value when it comes to course feedback. Writing this final reflection will help me relive some of my best and worst moments of the semester while also thinking about some of my favorite readings such as the eye tracker article.

Gender language in Teacher reviews was a really fun class activity. Looking up words and seeing the difference in the way males and females are described is interesting. I immediately reflected on the different professors I’ve had at CNU and correlated it back to his chart.

Just had a productive meeting for the Grant. The biggest fix is in-text citations. We were confused on that portion because we thought the annotated bibliography was enough. Looking forward to polishing up the writing and cutting down on words.

Todays weather is absolutely beautiful. Although I haven’t had my meeting yet, I encourage everyone to go outside and get some work done if you have. While enjoying the warm temperatures, I also took this time to get my mind right heading into the final revision of this draft.

The rough draft is due today. Feedback from professor Stover will be crucial to the corrections I make for the final. I haven’t used google classroom since high school but I remember it being easy to access for looking at teacher mark ups.

@EHedonette Peer review was definitely helpful. Looking at other Resumes to review gave me ideas for how to fix mine. Robert and I definitely have to fix some stuff on the Grant proposal though. It really is hard being concise with the word limit of 1,500. #cnuengl350

Today, I feel much better about everything. Got a lot of writing accomplished in class. We finished the abstract for our grant, so everything should be good to go for peer review. This peer review will hopefully go well and we can make changes before turning in the rough draft.

The work day was well needed. I have been behind on a lot of schoolwork, especially this Grant assignment. I’m struggling to find the motivation to do this. I Got a lot done today and have a strong foundation moving forward for peer review. #stressed #cnuengl350

Reviewing Resumes today was helpful. The last one I wrote was in February for job interview. I’m going to update it a little bit and freshen things up for the Grant. What I thought was really interesting is how there are two types of Resumes. Chronological and Functional.

@AdaChicas3 It scared me too. I feel so much pressure to write this grant and make sure it’s good. It’s nice though that we had a chance to hear some good advice for it from the speaker. Making sure you explain how your project is useful to humanities was my biggest takeaway.

The class activity gave me confidence for brainstorming the first lines of my Grant. It’s hard trying to hook your audience while keeping it short in length. Shoutout to the people that volunteered there ideas in class so that we see the mistakes and figure out how to improve.

@EHedonette I agree with this. Table 1 with the contrasting perspectives helps me visualize how a Grant Reviewer is reading my proposal. I also like the point that Grant Reviewers are impatient. This sets the tone for a short, yet concise style of writing that I am looking to get better at.

The Teach-In today was very informative. I didn’t know much about the buildup to the invasion of Ukraine until now. I also hate that Russia lied about destroying its nuclear weapons. Praying for Ukraine and really hoping this war does not come down to chemical warfare :(

@tanney4dh Im excited for this idea. I used to love going there as a kid. I also just saw a tik tok that talked about a forbidden Disney attraction called Discovery Island. I don’t know if you’re putting that in your timeline but I just made that connection. Hope your research is going well

I found The American Soldier in World War II DH project to be eye opening. Reading and visualizing the thoughts of soldiers during a grueling war is fascinating. I love history, especially this time period. There were so many different topics to choose from to read about as well.

For my Grant, @RBRobinson24 and I are mapping the 5 crime families in New York during the 1900s. This topic is something that will keep me engaged throughout the whole process. Can’t wait to research more on prohibition and how it created the movement of organized crime.

The JSTOR tutorial was insightful. I don’t use the library or its website so I did not know how to access JSTOR from there. I used to just google a topic with JSTOR at the end of it to find a scholarly article. Now, I know how to use the database and the features it has to offer.
