@madelyn_DH I didn't realize certain words were used more for one gender than the other. It brought to my attention how particular words can keep us contained in gender stereotypes. It makes me more aware of how my words effect those around me, even if they weren't meant to be negative
@RBRobinson24 Same, Robert! I think I got a few ideas on how to approach the rest of my draft even though the person I reviewed has a completely different topic than me. Now I feel more confident about showing my grant to others
@AdaChicas3 @madelyn_DH Agreed. My resume has been in need for an update for a while now so this assignment has been convenient and helpful. Although I did not have much job experiences in high school, that is something that still needs to be removed.
@AdaChicas3 I also experienced difficulty creating an original opening for my grant, let alone three. Usually I don't have much of a challenge writing an introduction but for some reason I couldn't think of anything creative or intriguing. The feedback for my peers gave inspiration though
@JuliaBcnu2022 I think that's an awesome idea! Growing up, my mom instilled in my family to eat healthy. Now that I am older, I continue to make healthy choices while I'm at college. Teaching kids about nutrition will make a positive impact throughout their lives as it is has done for mine
@RBRobinson24 I knew my project possibly had potential to make an impact but I didn't think too much into it because I just thought of it as an assignment for school. After reading the article, I felt as if it could be something more as well.
@DavisLong19 I think you could've explained what HTML and Oxygen was in your blog. Although I knew what you were talking about, someone who is unfamiliar with coding may not. Other than that, your blog was overall well written and visually appealing.
@ToddMahood I think the difficulty to determine a project budget varies from a person's experience and knowledge in the DH field. To accurately determine a budget would probably involve thorough research and consulting with those who have experience creating DH projects
@_summerv_ Agreed! Once I got the hang of it, I became more confident and was shocked how quickly I finished the coding. Most everyone seems to have enjoyed doing this and feels as if they've done some presentable work so I'm positive the end results will be great!
@AdaChicas3 Getting out of the comfort zone is terrifying but having more interesting and better quality projects as a result is well worth it in the DH field. Technology and programming are our future, therefore as DH projects advance, the markdowns and coding will advance as well
@JuliaBcnu2022 My mom stresses that programming is such an important skill to have as well. I'm not much of a "technology-savvy" kind of person but I've taken a few computer science classes here and there to prepare myself since it truly is the next generation's new language
@tanney4dh I'm impressed with the outcome of your review! Each picture added in the blog allows the reader to visualize what you are critiquing or praising about "The Grand Tour of Italy." Overall your review is engaging and successfully critiques the site in a positive manner
@ToddMahood I think one way to learn how to "trust the process" is to just keep doing "the process." In other words, if you keep practicing writing, you will see how far you've come along from your bad first draft to the improvements of the final product.
@Alexandra_4241 Allowing everyone to respectfully add their input in the DH dialogue regardless of their field is necessary for perspective. I understand your concern about the spread of misinfo but I'm sure that experienced researchers would know the difference between critiques and actual data
@JuliaBcnu2022 LOVED your blog! It was overall very engaging due to your humorous and fun personality really shining through. It's so crazy that you came here all the way from Oregon! I look forward to meeting you and learning more about the rest of my #ENG350 peers in person :)
@JakeVerry but those who are just trying to get the main take-aways on a subject they aren't that interested in would most likely just be a layered-cake reader like you and me. (2/2)
@JakeVerry The setup that caters to a particular scanning would be most beneficial depending on the goal of the DH work and targeted audience. For someone who would be truly interested in a certain topic would fully commit to reading all (1/2)
@AdaChicas3 The website is engaging yet simple where it allows the viewers to grasp the concept of the DH field. Each definition that popped up after every refresh helped the reader learn about DH while getting a taste of how it is used. To answer your question: he wants us to focus on both.
@_summerv_ Hey Summer! I'm a Communication major and taking this class as a requirement as well but for my minor. I just wanted to say I love your cover photo! Taylor Swift is AMAZING!!!
