Getting rid of Rashford and McTominay in one season and in arguably your worst season of the modern era, must feel so rubbish. I know some United fans have their grievances about those two players’ performances but their stories embody what it means to be United. Feels like a loss of principles and a lack of United’s essence this season. Feels like any other club.
There is a concerning lack of education around the British empire. The empire committed some of the most heinous crimes in history and most of the so called ‘commonwealth’ countries are still suffering from the aftermath of colonisation. The empire is not something to celebrate.
When politicians demonise migrants, the far right listen.
When they say refugees should be “sent back to where they came from”, the far right listen.
When they complain about asylum seekers staying in hotels, the far right listen.
Let’s promote a message of unity instead.
One that tackles the issues facing us all: the housing crisis, the collapse of our NHS and the disaster of privatisation.
One that gives hope to all communities that a fairer society is possible.
Stand up to racism. Defend refugees. Inspire belief in a better world. That is how you defeat the far right once and for all.
@fellowska Understandable but this wasn’t a one off situation. This has been an ongoing issue for several years now. There is almost always too few immigration officers compared to passengers. And to top it all off they dump the luggage on the floor at baggage reclaim.
Trigger warning. A message from VERSUS in light of recent events. Players now have the ability to create social change, but using their voice in response to a rape verdict isn't how to do it. Their platforms need to be used with care and responsibility.
