The “successful vegetarian communities” argument is intellectually lazy.
Yes, some Marwaris, Gujaratis and other vegetarian families have produced highly successful people. So what? That proves almost nothing about national child nutrition policy.
You cannot take a handful of wealthy, educated, privileged, well-fed families often with access to milk, nuts, ghee, fruits, supplements, private healthcare and better schools and use them as evidence for what should be fed to millions of poor children in government schools.
That is not data. That is cherry picking.
Ramanujan was a genius despite severe hardship, not proof that every child should be denied eggs. A few exceptional vegetarians do not cancel out India’s very real problems of stunting, wasting, anaemia, low protein intake and poor diet quality.
The question is not whether a rich vegetarian adult can succeed. Of course they can.
The question is whether a growing child from a poor household should be denied one of the cheapest, cleanest, highest-quality protein sources available: an egg.
A vegetarian diet can be healthy when properly planned. But oily, carb heavy, deep fried food does not become “healthy” just because it is vegetarian.
Children need nutrition, not ideology. Stop using exceptions as policy. Keep eggs in school meals. Offer choice. Offer protein. Offer balance.
In the egg-in-midday-meal debate, the most insensitive comments I’ve seen so far:
“There is no malnutrition in 🇮🇳 .”
“They can eat egg at home.”
“Protein intake isn’t the government’s job.”
I served on a school committee where 10-11-year-olds chewed gutkha to suppress hunger.
Ashok Shrivastav shouldn't be allowed to get away with an apology. He should be fired from his job.
Put yourself in Vedant's place.
You studied hard for your exam. You wrote your paper well. But CBSE goofed up with your paper and gave you low marks.
You are under tremendous stress. You take to social media to highlight the issue. But a DD News anchor labels you ‘Pakistani.’
And that anchor is paid with your father's tax money.
Now, imagine the trauma.
Sir maafi chahungi, aap umar me bohot bade hain mujhse, par aapko bilkul sharam nahi aati? Matlab thodi toh aati hi hogi!
Paper pe paper leak ho rahe hain, laakhon baccho ki zindagi barbaad ho rahi hai. Aur aap sarkar ko sawal poochne ki jagah, ek bacche ke peeche padd gaye, wo bhi jhoot ke basis pe!
She is no more.
They removed CD/DVD drives from devices.
They made physical media harder to buy and use.
They removed expandable storage from phones.
They pushed us into streaming subscriptions.
They made always-online normal.
They made unlimited internet necessary.
Then slowly raised the price of everything.
Ownership quietly became renting.
This place is in my Hometown - Kishangarh (Ajmer). And I strongly advise you NOT TO VISIT THIS place.
This is marble dust. It is very poisonous and can literally puncture and harm your lungs permanently, irreversible damage. The local population is already suffering.
These Instagram and pre-wedding photographers colour-grade the pics to make them look “beautiful”, but in reality, it is not.

I’m completely stranded at Moscow airport… alone, helpless, and running out of hope.
No one from @makemytripcare or @etihad is answering my desperate messages.
Russia doesn’t accept Visa or Mastercard anymore.
I have ZERO cash left. Not even for food or water.
The Etihad ground staff is avoiding me more than my ex ever did — literally turning their faces away and telling me “just call customer care”… which has been busy for hours. I’m standing here like a beggar in my own nightmare.
I don’t know how I’m going to get home. I’m scared. I feel abandoned by the very companies I trusted with my journey. My family is waiting and I can’t even tell them I’m safe.
Please… if anyone from Etihad, MakeMyTrip, or even the Indian embassy sees this — HELP ME.
And if you’re reading this, just one RT could save me. I’m begging.

In 12+ yrs of journalism, never seen this: Joined on Aug 21, next day was asked for an “experience certificate” or offer would be withdrawn. Submitted it, yet they withdrew the offer on Aug 27. The job hunt begins again.
Sir, some journalists did work to bring issues to the forefront. An example: (1) How "inclusion of illegal immigrants" in the electoral rolls is a factor for SIR.(June 25) (2) how BLOs were saying this is an impossible task to achieve in 30 days(26) (3) ECI clarified that people can submit enumeration forms without documents at the draft stage--this still remains an issue (June 29) (4) How the commission deleted "foreign illegal immigrants" from subsequent releases in a possible bid to avoid any controversy (July 1) (5)How a union minister said that this indeed was a "citizenship drive". (July 2). Pls read: https://t.co/dHG2rlohId

What kind of organisation erases its journalists?
It's been a year and a half since I quit as the NE India Correspondent for @Outlookindia. After I left in March 2023, I have discovered that they changed the bylines of 90% of my stories, a blatant injustice to my work.
