Remember I built something similar for our SMS relay system.

The main limitation is the Sender ID messages will appear to come from the SIM card number, not a branded sender name.

Also, you still depend on the network operator’s SMS bundle or credit, so it’s not entirely “free.”

And reliability is another factor: the phone has to stay powered, connected, and online at all times. That works well for experiments and small projects, but it’s generally not ideal for production-scale systems.
