Former Minister of Foreign Affairs and United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Libya, H.E. Hanna Serwaa Tetteh, has called on African countries to strengthen collective action to protect the continent’s interests amid growing geopolitical tensions and a weakening global multilateral system.

Speaking at the 21st Kronti ne Akwamu Lecture organized by the CDD-Ghana in Accra, H.E. Tetteh warned that Africa could become increasingly vulnerable if it failed to present a united front on diplomacy, trade, development and security as major global powers shift towards bilateral engagements.

Meet Maria Montes, a Master's student in International Relations at @SyracuseU, New York, USA, and a former intern at CDD-Ghana with the Human Rights and Social Accountability team.

Before joining the Center, Maria worked as a volunteer mentor with the Latino Pilot's Association and as a Spanish-English interpreter with the International Institute of Buffalo, supporting cross-cultural communication and access to essential resources.

For Ndey, CDD-Ghana became a space to learn, connect, lead and grow, while building networks that continue to shape her journey.

What is at stake if the multilateral system continues to weaken?

H.E. Hanna Serwaa Tetteh noted that continued fragmentation of the multilateral system would disproportionately affect countries with less power and influence on the global stage.

She stressed that sustaining the effective parts of the system is in the collective interest of all UN member states, particularly in advancing shared aspirations for peace, security and prosperity.

She made these remarks at the 21st Kronti ne Akwamu Public Lecture.

We requested a copy of the report of the inter-ministerial committee constituted by President Mahama to review the NLA-KGL contract.

And the merry-go-round started.

The Attorney-General's office said it doesn’t have it and pointed us to the Office of the President.

The President’s office, which commissioned the review, said it doesn’t have it and that we should check with the Finance Ministry.

The Finance Ministry is not responding to the RTI request. An internal appeal has been filed. Check first comment a link to the story.

From July 29–30, 2026, CDD-Ghana convened a diverse group of stakeholders in Tamale for a two-day capacity-building workshop on human rights, non-discrimination, and the protection of vulnerable persons in Ghana.

The workshop examined Ghana's constitutional, regional, and international human rights obligations, with sessions on democratic rights, the secular state, and the responsibility of the State to protect the rights of all persons, particularly vulnerable groups.

Participants also explored emerging human rights issues, including the implications of the Ghanaian Family Values Bill, while strengthening their understanding of rights-based approaches to advocacy, public engagement, and the promotion of inclusive and non-discriminatory societies.

On July 22–23, 2026, the Coalition of Civil Society Organisations on Migration-Ghana (CCMG), in collaboration with the Ministry of the Interior, convened a two-day post-International Migration Review Forum (IMRF 2026) workshop in Accra.

Supported by GIZ, IOM, and the MIASA Institute, University of Ghana, the workshop brought together members of Ghana's delegation to the IMRF, held in New York in June 2026, to reflect on key outcomes, share lessons from the Forum, assess progress in Ghana's migration governance, and identify priorities for the way forward.

As a lead member of CCMG, CDD-Ghana was represented by Paul Aborampah Mensah, Programs Manager, who facilitated some sessions during the workshop.
