there actually aren’t many people who know the full extent of the things you have survived because you have always tried to minimise your experiences. you gave yourself the duty to be the person who succeeded/survived despite everything you have been through. and while that is part of your experience, you neglected a large part of your healing journey.

surviving something is one thing, but truly getting over it is a completely different thing. you’ve shoved a lot of your memories into a far away place but even you know that you struggle with your own thoughts. you know that if you think too much, you can easily think yourself into a horrible place.

you have this mentality that if you admit that something hurts you, it makes you weak. so you are constantly trying to trick yourself into believing that things in your past don’t still sting. like the way you were abandoned and the memories of your abuse. you feel like giving certain memories space is letting the person responsible win.

your strength was never in question here, they were always the weak one. the amount of space you allow yourself to feel and heal, will never erase the fact that you are strong. i know that you had to build up these walls and i know that you had to toughen up so you could survive but you don’t need to be in survival mode anymore. you made it out alive. i need you to heal so that you can truly enjoy the love and success that is coming for you.
