I’d rather hang out with a humble conservative than a self-righteous liberal. And I’d rather hang out with a humble liberal than a self-righteous conservative. Humility is life-giving. And self-righteousness is always toxic.
“Hope has two beautiful daughters; their names are Anger and Courage. Anger at the way things are, and Courage to see that they do not remain as they are.”
St Augustine
I wish we had a party that is consistently pro-life...
On abortion
On gun violence
On the death penalty
On the environment
On militarism...
Because every human being is made in the image of God. And life doesn’t begin at conception and end at birth.
"Do not waste time bothering whether you "love" your neighbor; act as if you did. As soon as we do this we find one of the great secrets. When you are behaving as if you loved someone, you will presently come to love them." #CSLewis
1 Cor 13:8 says love never fails. It may fail to bring about the result we long for but, in Jesus, it NEVER fails. Though it may seem in our eyes to miserably fail those we loved, loving when it’s really hard will not fail to affect us & shape our hearts like His. Love by faith.
This series helped to clarify some questions I had with “Irresistible” and to solidify my respect for these men. Grateful for their humility and boldness.
My friend @jdgreear wrote a review of Irresistible. He said I’m one of America’s “most effective evangelists” then compared me to German Higher critics and theological liberals! A fascinating combination for sure. https://t.co/v4ec0Wi8CZ
When a president (who faked a disability in order to avoid serving) attacks a departed war hero, it’s for attention.
We should honor the late Senator McCain, and also follow his example by focusing not on the behavior of the president but on the future of our country.
While listening to Bad Blood, my five year old son shared that his favorite singer is @kendricklamar...then he says, “He is my second favorite after “Thy Will Be Done” girl @HillaryScottLA. 🤷♂️ The kid has an eclectic taste in music.
I’ve always drawn inspiration from what Dr. King called life’s most persistent and urgent question: "What are you doing for others?" Let’s honor his legacy by standing up for what is right in our communities and taking steps to make a positive impact on the world.
Of course, @MichelleObama’s my wife, so I’m a little biased here. But she also happens to be brilliant, funny, wise – one of a kind. This book tells her quintessentially American story. I love it because it faithfully reflects the woman I have loved for so long.
