I shared Africa’s perspective on moving from AfCFTA ambition to implementation — through stronger institutions, integrated economic corridors, trade facilitation, finance, standards and regional value chains.
The AfCFTA has made a continental market legally possible. Our task now is to make it operationally real for African firms, traders, investors and citizens.
At the 2026 IsDB Group Annual Meetings, the session “Drivers of Regional Integration across IsDB Regions” explored how stronger connectivity, trade facilitation, and regional cooperation can drive sustainable growth, economic resilience, and shared prosperity across IsDB Member Countries.

Africa faces a development financing gap exceeding US$400 billion per year.
The New African Financial Architecture (NAFA), championed by the @AfDB_Group as part of the Four Cardinal Points strategic vision of @AfDBPresident Dr Ould Tah, proposes a systemic framework aimed at reorganising how capital and risk are deployed across the African financial ecosystem to close this gap.
On 9 April, in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, the Bank Group will host a Consultative Dialogue on #NAFA under the patronage of H.E. President @AOuattara_PRCI of Côte d'Ivoire, and will be led by Bank Group President Sidi Ould Tah.

Elevating partnerships for Africa’s long-term growth and resilience:
Today in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, the Heads of Institutions of the @arabcoordgroup and the leadership of the @AfDB_Group met for a High-Level Consultation Meeting focused on further driving coordination among development partners.
The meeting concluded with the signing of a Joint Declaration aimed at strengthening and structuring their strategic partnership in support of sustainable and inclusive development in Africa.
In his remarks, OPEC Fund President Dr. Abdulhamid Alkhalifa emphasized: “The OPEC Fund remains fully committed to deepening its partnership with the African Development Bank Group and with our fellow institutions in the Arab Coordination Group. We stand ready to work together not only to mobilize resources, but to shape the next generation of development solutions for Africa.”
