I LOVE how she put this. People will absolutely deputize themselves as if they have a license to pursue someone else’s suffering and I truly believe it is the HEIGHT of human hubris.
told my 4 year old he can’t have ice cream cake after dinner if he doesn’t EAT his dinner and he came up to me immediately and said “can you give me a hug so I don’t cry?” and when I bent down for a hug he whispered “don’t ever say that to me ever again”
"Blame the password sharers" yes blame the common man!! Fight one another!!! Be at odds with your fellow human while the big bosses and ceo's pocket all the cash!!!
they won. you're afraid of your neighbours and fellow workers instead of the bourgeoisie, who steal the equivalent value of that computer from you over and over and over until you die. they own you completely
What sucks is that life could be so easy. So easy. There are enough resources to end world hunger, homelessness, and poverty. We could slow down and fairly utilize and distribute them. Instead, everyone suffers while 20 men control half the world’s wealth.
I’m sure it’s really good for the culture that all acts of goodness are seen as “performative” and therefore untrustworthy whereas acts of selfishness are seen as “honest” or “just realistic” and therefore worthy of praise
i very much agree that people need many other people in their lives to explore what's inside themselves. i just dont really think it's necessary to have sex with most of them
