#BlackHistoryMonth Moment:
Dr. Cornel West is a prominent American philosopher, political activist, social critic, and public intellectual.
West was born on June 2, 1953, in Tulsa, Oklahoma and grew up in Sacramento, California, where he graduated from John F. Kennedy High School. As a teen, West marched in civil rights demonstrations and organized protests demanding Black studies courses at his high school, where he was the student body president. He later wrote that, in his youth, he admired "the sincere Black militancy of Malcolm X, the defiant rage of the Black Panther Party, and the livid Black theology of James Cone".
In 1970, after graduation from high school, he enrolled at Harvard College. In 1973, West was graduated from Harvard magna cum laude while working in local breakfast, prison, and church programs. After completing his undergraduate work at Harvard, West enrolled at Princeton University, where he received master's and became the first African American to graduate from Princeton with a PhD degree in philosophy.
West has taught at several prestigious institutions, including Harvard University, Princeton University, and Union Theological Seminary. His academic focus includes philosophy, theology, African American studies, and cultural theory. He is known for his work on race, democracy, and ethics, with notable books like "Race Matters" and "Democracy Matters."
He is widely recognized for his public speaking and media appearances where he discusses issues related to race, class, justice, and politics. His style combines deep philosophical insights with passionate advocacy for social justice. Dr. West has been involved in various political movements, advocating for issues like civil rights, economic justice, and against poverty. He has supported and worked with a range of political figures and movements, often from a progressive or left-wing perspective.
Beyond academia, West has appeared in films, documentaries, and music, notably collaborating with artists like Prince and Talib Kweli. His voice and presence in cultural discussions often transcend traditional academic boundaries. In recent years, Dr. West has also ventured into politics more directly; he ran for President of the United States in 2024 as a third-party candidate, specifically under the People's Party and later the Green Party.
Dr. Cornel West continues to be a significant figure in American intellectual and political life, engaging with contemporary issues through a lens informed by philosophy, history, and theology.
A lot of brothers mad about the Candace Owens thread I made
Even though they agree with what she was saying in the clips
They don’t like that shes a republican
Or she got a white man etc etc
So let’s say it was a black civil rights woman with a black husband
Who was calling out the degenerate culture and rap culture
How would y’all respond to her??
Wait.. that already happened
So let’s see how the response was
Because since this was not Candace
And it was a civil rights REAL black woman I’m sure the response was respectful right??
Let’s take a look..
Because See l i don’t think the messenger is the problem i think we just don’t
Like hearing about ourselves
But I could be wrong
Since Russell Simmons is back outside taking pics with the mayor of NYC and on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, let’s make sure his whole story is too.

Personally not buying anymore Nike or adidas for 365 days. I’m not asking y’all to boycott them forever. Just give me 365 days of only buying other brands (buy black mostly) Even if y’all don’t do it with me, I’ll walk this path alone and lead by example. History repeats itself.
