New York City is officially having a basketball renaissance, all thanks to the city signing two of the best players in the world.
Jalen Brunson is rightfully being celebrated as the ultimate hero of the Big Apple after bringing NYC its first NBA title in 53 years.
He deserves every single bit of that love, lifting the Larry O'Brien Trophy just four years after signing on the dotted line with the Knicks.
But let's not forget that the city experienced the exact same championship high two seasons ago, when Breanna Stewart lifted the Liberty to their first-ever WNBA title.
It took Stewie just two seasons to totally crack the code, paving the way for the Knicks and Brunson to follow suit.
The dominance runs way deeper than just the main rings, too.
Both of these superstars have been out here hoarding mid-season hardware for the city.
Back in December, Brunson carried the Knicks to a gritty Emirates NBA Cup championship (winning the MVP in the process).
Not to be outdone, Stewart just went out and anchored the Liberty to a WNBA Commissioner's Cup trophy.
The question now is, what will each of them do to top themselves?
Because let's be real, the only thing better than one title is two.
As if they aren't massive enough heroes already, the absolute best way to cement your legacy in New York is to have a matching pair of rings.
Jalen Brunson was once overlooked, undervalued and called out by pundits.
Everything is different now for the Knicks guard, who gave New York the title it has craved for more than half a century with a sublime Finals performance
Carmelo Anthony tells Brunson and Hart did what generations of Knicks legends couldn't
Carmelo: "I should be switching seats with you, man. You should be sitting by the trophy"
Carmelo: "We tried to do it and they completed it. They finished it. They got it to the finish line. So you got to give a shout out to those guys"
Carmelo: "I'm just here on the couch. I can support those guys. I can be a fan of the game. I could come to the game, give my little advice here and there, but like that's y'all sh man"
Josh: "No one understands besides y'all that wore the jersey. No one understands the weight that that jersey has sometimes"
NYC’s own Shammgod, Ron Artest and Mark Jackson with the appropriate Jalen Brunson takes.
Smush Parker? The eyes. Kobe’s favorite. 🙄
Tracy McGrady was exposed. Bad. We got a T-Mac on the Knicks take. Not a T-Mac on Orlando take.
Angela Oakley: “After all these years Knicks fans finally got to witness history…& so did Charles. Nobody could stop this moment…City celebrating…Charles got to see the team he gave his heart to make history. Some things bigger than politics & egos. Tonight belongs to NY”
