🚨 BREAKING: The US has withdrawn all B-1 bombers from RAF Fairford, UK — days after police foiled an alleged Iranian-backed van-bomb plot targeting the base.
Five suspects arrested. A senior US official says the crew was recruited by Iran's Revolutionary Guard. Tehran calls it "fabricated."
What's unusual: the bombers flew all the way home instead of relocating within the region. The threat was described as a "real world incident."

🧠 BREAKING: The 2026 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine goes to Karl Deisseroth, Peter Hegemann & Georg Nagel — for giving science a light switch for the brain.
It started with pond algae. In the 1990s, Hegemann wondered how a single-celled alga swims toward light — and found channelrhodopsin, a light-sensitive protein. With Nagel, he showed it works as an ion channel: a switch opened by light.
Then Deisseroth did the unthinkable. In 2005, he put that algal protein into living nerve cells — and turned them on with blue light. Optogenetics was born.
Today it's used in labs worldwide to map the circuits behind memory, emotion and behavior. It's in clinical trials to restore vision in retinitis pigmentosa, and may one day upgrade cochlear implants.
From a curious question about algae to a Nobel Prize. This is why basic science matters. 🔬
