BREAKING: Three new ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ animated movies have been announced. The release date is currently unknown. The team who made the original animated show (including Bryan Konietzko and Mike DiMartino) are reuniting to make these movies.

@dustingdarkling Aren’t Netflix’s shows diverse casts but with a white lead? Almost always? I think the issue with Avatar would be that Bryke want a lead actor who isn’t white.

RUMOUR: The reason for Bryan & Mike quitting the Avatar Netflix live action is because Netflix didn’t agree with their choices for the ethnicity of the characters.

Creators of Avatar, Bryan Konietzko & Mike DiMartino, have QUIT working on the Netflix live-action adaption of Avatar the Last Airbender. This is due to Netflix being ‘difficult’ to work with and not supporting their vision for the show.

@orbitversal The way Bryke are saying the show is based on Asians but only drew a couple of characters as Asian and made the protagonist white-passing for mass appeal of the show 💀

What are your thoughts on, for the Avatar live action, the creators are casting someone full east-Asian as they do not want to whitewash the character.

Do you think they should’ve drawn the character to look more Asian in the beginning? Or do you think Aang looks Asian as he is?

AND: The creators wanted to not whitewash the show (which means Aang won’t be white) so what ethnicity can play Aang and still realistically look like him.

For the last airbender live action remake on Netflix, how old should the actors they cast be? Should they have actors in the 18-25 range or should their ages be true to the characters in the original cartoon (12-16)?
