This felt 𝒏𝒊𝒄𝒆, serene, and still —— as though time had bended and stopped just for her; away from teeming places, raucous minds, and glaring eyes. Bathed in moonlight, she sat by the river, feet dipping into the warm, crystalline water.
The skies above her promise rainfall — dark and thick with a brewing storm. Its roar mirrors her thoughts; piercing and ear-splitting. Yet Jean 𝒘𝒊𝒔𝒉𝒆𝒔 to hear only nature’s screams — but all that reaches her is the thoughts of roving individuals, and they’re clamorous.
Viridescent irises flicker across a piece of cake—vanilla, to be exact. It smells delectable, and something tells her it’s just the right amount of sweet. It lifts from the table and lands right onto her palm.
. . . Apologies in advance to whoever saved the last slice.
@withherworld “I’d tell you,” answers the woman, head lifting to meet the other’s. “Or, I could pretend to get it wrong. . Y’know—if you happen to be a sore loser,” Jean quips, “Please come in.”
