@calicomccoy@So8res So we wouldn't expect better metacognition alone to solve the problem, right? But are you suggesting interfering in *inter-agent* interactions and setting those up to produce outcomes we want?
@calicomccoy@So8res I guess the problem is that, yes, stronger minds are better consequentialists - but the impulses implanted in minds, when 'closed over' or 'seen to their ends' or whatever, don't necessarily resolve to whatever it is we wanted them to want.
@zetalyrae@softminus I think Coffey or somebody was having a bit too much fun with the translation. And Sakomizu's quote is ~10+ years removed from the events he was describing, and the meeting notes I linked first are from the day. extremely tendentious point is there's probably no flower
@zetalyrae@softminus While reporting what Anami said in the Imperial Conference. "一億玉砕" - 一億 is a hundred million, ref to Japan's population. 玉砕 is 'shattered jade' or 'shattered gem', apparently a reference to the Chinese Book of Northern Qi:
In Watchmen, once superheroes become real, all the comic authors switch to writing about pirates. I feel like a similar thing is happening with sci fi vs fantasy.
