ACCEPTANCE SPEECH BY MR. PETER OBI FOLLOWING HIS NOMINATION AS THE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE OF THE NIGERIAN DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS(NDC) – MAY 30, 2026
Protocols,
Esteemed citizens of Nigeria,
It is with deep humility that I accept the role of presidential candidate for our party.
I express my profound gratitude to the leaders of our party. His Excellency Seriake Dickson, the National Chairman, National Secretary and the National Working Committee, NWC members and members of our relentless supporters, and the Nigerian populace who have steadfastly kept the spirit of hope alive. I commend those who have made the journey from every region of our nation to convene here in Abuja.
I wish to assert unequivocally: a New Nigeria is Possible. This conviction has united us; it must serve as our compass on the challenging road ahead and sustain us through all trials we may face. This pivotal moment transcends the individual ambitions of Peter Obi; it concerns the essence of our nation and the future of our children. It is about rekindling hope for millions who have faced adversity yet remain committed to Nigeria.
Today, our nation finds itself at a crucial juncture, enveloped in uncertainty. Families are anxious about their safety; parents are concerned for their children's futures; and talented youth increasingly question their prospects in their homeland.
Businesses are struggling, communities are suffering, and an alarming number of citizens have lost faith in the very concept of governance. Yet, I stand before you filled with optimism and strong faith in the resilience of our people, for I firmly believe that a New Nigeria is possible.
UNITY
To realise this New Nigeria, we must first mend the foundational elements essential for the success of any nation.
Nigeria cannot advance while fragmented by ethnic, religious, regional, or narrow political divides. We may communicate in different languages and practise diverse faiths, but we share a singular destiny under one flag. Our diversity should not be a source of division; rather, it is among our greatest strengths.
We should build bridges where others erect barriers, replace mistrust with confidence, division with understanding, and resentment with a collective purpose. A united Nigeria is indispensable. As Will Durant wisely pointed out, "A great civilisation is not conquered from without until it has destroyed itself from within." We must never self-destruct. We must heal, unify, and progress together.
INSECURITY
In terms of security, the situation in Nigeria has considerably worsened. The global terrorism impact assessments ranked Nigeria as the 8th most affected nation in 2022, 6th in 2024, and 4th in 2026.
Yet, for many years, Nigeria garnered global recognition as a reliable contributor to peacekeeping, regional stabilisation, and conflict resolution. Our troops have not only displayed bravery but have also shown professionalism, discipline, resilience, and empathy in the most challenging operational contexts. Our officers and personnel have successfully commanded multiple international forthe ces, safeguarded vulnerable civilian populations, monitored ceasefires, reinstated constitutional order, and contributed to rebuilding efforts.
Nigeria became one of the leading contributors of troops from Africa to UN peacekeeping missions and earned widespread admiration for operational effectiveness and leadership in various countries, including Rwanda, Sudan, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Mali, Western Sahara, Congo, Lebanon, Cambodia, Haiti, and Kuwait. At one pointin a Nigeria, Lt. General Isaac Obiakor (rtd) even led global peacekeeping initiatives.
We must address insecurity with resolve and urgency, for no nation can thrive while its citizens live in trepidation. The primary responsibility of the government is to ensure the safeguarding of lives and property.
Open Apology Letter to the Obidient Movement
My Dear Obidient Family, I come before you today with a heavy heart, deep humility, and no excuses. Some time ago, in a moment of frustration and immaturity, I wrote and released a resignation letter as Director of Mobilization. In that letter, I allowed deep frustration & personal emotions to cloud my judgment. I made statements that subtly and unnecessarily dragged Peter Obi, a man I still respect for his vision, integrity, and sacrifice for this nation. That was wrong. It was childish, and beneath the standard I should have upheld, especially as someone who once held a leadership position in this movement.
I take full responsibility. No one forced me to write it. No one edited it. It came from me, and it was a mistake. I deleted the letter afterwards, but I know deletion does not erase the damage, the disappointment, or the loss of trust many of you felt. I understand why some of you no longer respect me the way you once did. You had every right to feel let down.
To Peter Obi himself (fondly called PO): Sir, I am sincerely sorry. My words were not a true reflection of the values of sacrifice, accountability, and constructive criticism that you preach. I failed in that moment. To every single Obidient, the ones who stayed grinding, the ones who defended the vision even when it was tough, the ones who felt betrayed by my actions, I am deeply sorry. You are the real heroes of this movement. Many of you are young people full of hope and fire for a better Nigeria. You didn’t deserve to see internal cracks turned into public drama. I let you down.
I am not writing this because I want something or a position in the movement as I’m enjoying private life. I am writing it because it is the right thing to do. Leadership is not only about when the road is sweet and smooth; it is also about owning up when you mess up. I own this fully. I am committed to rebuilding trust through consistent actions, not just words. But I also know trust is not demanded, it is earned back slowly, if at all. Thank you for reading this.
Whether you accept my apology or not, I respect your feelings and your right to hold me accountable. The love I have for a better Nigeria has not changed. You all know me. My respect for the Obidient spirit remains. I am sorry truly.
With humility and hope for forgiveness,
Your brother in this struggle,
Morris Monye.
Oya come let’s hug. 😊
Hey Barbir @Alex_Barbir,
I thought as an American, you should be smart. Unfortunately, you aren’t. You quoted this same verse two days ago, now you have quoted it again. If this verse is your only weapon, then you need to call your teacher Dachomo that you have failed again.
I know why this verse looks strange to you. It is because you are reading a 7th century text on statecraft and warfare through a very lazy modern lens. But I will help you and others like you who may want to weaponize it in the future.
Surah 9:29 is not a blanket command to fight every non-Muslim. That is a very poor reading of the Quran. This specific verse was revealed during an active state of war. It was directed at the Byzantine Empire, the Romans, who were mobilizing a huge army to attack the Muslims in Medina. This was the buildup to the Battle of Tabuk. You are taking a military directive meant for a hostile Roman army and trying to sell it as a random command to kill people today. Thats gravely unfair.
Jonathan A.C. Brown who was formerly a Christian and later became a Muslim broke this down perfectly in his book “Misquoting Muhammad.” He showed how orientalists and hostile Christians like you strip verses from their historical application and misapply them to modern society. He called this an academic fraud.
And as for that tax you highlighted at the end. In an Islamic state, Muslims paid Zakat and had compulsory military service. Non-Muslim citizens on the other hand were totally exempt from fighting. The Jizyah was a protection tax. The state was obligated to protect their lives, churches, and properties. History records that if the Islamic state could not protect those citizens, the money had to be returned. What is more good than that?
Let’s now consider some historical comparison to show your obvious ignorance.
Go to Deuteronomy 20 in the Old Testament. It outlines the rules of war for the Israelites. It says when you march up to attack a city, make an offer of peace. If the city accepts, all the people in it shall be subject to forced labor and pay tribute. If they refuse, you lay siege to it and put the men to the sword.
Does that mean every Christian or Jew today is commanded to enslave people and collect tribute? No. Because rational people understand that was a historical context for ancient nation building. But when you see the same concept of a state tax in the Quran, you suddenly lose your reading comprehension.
Karen Armstrong, who was a renowned historian and former Catholic nun said in her book “Fields of Blood,” she explained that in the medieval period, every single empire required taxation and military defense to survive. Islamic statecraft was no different. The Romans had a similar system called the Tributum capitis. It was a poll tax paid in exchange for state protection.
To Alex Barbir: you are too small for the intellectual war you want to embark upon.
To every Nigerian who loves peace, we need to ignore this clown. He is acting more like a spy who is only here to milk our national tragedy for his own hidden agenda.
And to media houses such as News Central and AriseTV giving this guy a platform and promoting him, you people are playing a very dangerous game. You will end up blowing up this country just for ratings.
Thank you for your attention.

Tragedies like this often occur due to a "window of vulnerability" or Cold Chain Failure. If the vaccine isn't stored at 2°C-8°C constantly, it loses potency.
4 ways to prevent this from happening to you
1️⃣ The 15-Minute Flush: Immediately wash the wound with soap and RUNNING water for 15 mins. This is the single most effective way to kill the virus at the entry point.
2️⃣ Demand the RIG: For broken skin (Category III), you need RIG (Rabies Immunoglobulin) inside the wound, not just the vaccine in your arm. RIG provides instant antibodies while the vaccine takes 7-14 days to work.
3️⃣ Choose the Right Hospital: Avoid small, local clinics that might have frequent power cuts or poor refrigeration. Go to a major government hospital where cold chain protocols (backup generators/medical fridges) are strictly monitored.
4️⃣ Zero Delay: If the bite is near the face/neck, the virus reaches the brain faster. Start the treatment within hours, not days.
Th advantage is allowed in few seconds which is like 4 seconds. The advantage was allowed until Haaland pulled Szobo. If Haaland had scored from the first pull, Szobo would have been yellow carded.
Haaland - Szobozlai like situation happened in Serie A...
Instead of giving RED CARD, the Ref played advantage, the goal stood & the defender only got a Yellow card...VAR should learn from this 😡🤬
We just released the 2025 JAMB questions for
Physics, Chemistry, Accounting, Government and Literature in English for students to assess their readiness for 2026 JAMB exams.
They are properly vetted with clear answers and detailed explanations.
What surprised me is how humbling it is, some students who felt ready weren’t, while some who were anxious turned out to be fine.
It just shows you students current level honestly.
If you’re writing JAMB this year, you probably owe yourself that truth now, not in the exam hall.
It’s here:

If this doesn’t concern you, ignore it.
But someone you care about is writing JAMB.
Please share it with them.
I was homeless for six months in 2011. I slept in my car. I used to park behind a small church because it was dark and quiet. I thought nobody knew I was there. Every morning, I’d wake up, drive to a gas station to wash my face, and go to work (yes, I had a job, just couldn't afford rent). One night, it was freezing. 10 degrees. My car wouldn't start to run the heater. I was shivering so hard my teeth hurt. I saw the back door of the church open. A janitor came out to dump the trash. He saw my car. He saw me huddled in the front seat. He didn't call the cops. He didn't come over and tap on the window. He just walked back to the door, unlocked it, and propped it open with a small rock. Then he turned on the hallway light and left. I waited ten minutes. Then I ran inside. It was warm. There was a couch in the lobby. There was a bathroom with hot water. I slept there every night for the rest of the winter. Every night, the rock was there. I never met the janitor. I never thanked him. I’m back on my feet now. I have a house. I have a bed. But every year on the first snow, I donate a check to that church. I write "For the heating bill" in the memo line. Sometimes the loudest way to love your neighbor is to say nothing at all.

Earlier today. I visited Ilesan Jakande housing estate, were the lawless APC demolition government has once again struck to increase the suffering of Lagosians despite a court order placing an injunction against the demolition.
I saw the "Task force" operatives beat innocent residents like Engineer Maro to Coma as well as several others all to grab land for developers to build UNaffordable housing which only increases the number of homeless youth and worsen the cost of living crisis.
The brazen daylight rape of citizen rights carried out by the APC lagos government must be resisted.
Thugs, dressed as task force operatives even had the audacity to threaten to harm me and then fired tear gas at me. This is the thugocracy that the APC government has reduced Lagos to. A government of lawless land grabbers and thugs that rely on violence to secure their power.
How long will we continue this anti-poor wicked governance. Landlords were made homeless overnight or were offered 11million naira, which can barely pay a years rent in the same environs.
Alhaji Jakande built housing for the poor, yet people that have not achieved close to what he delivered are focused on demolishing and constantly pushing the poor away, from indigenous communities to migrant ones, everyone is affected.
This demolition, power drunk government has to go.

Sen. Hawley: “Can men get pregnant?”
Dr. Nisha Verma: “I'm not really sure what the goal of the question is.”
Sen. Hawley: “The goal is just to establish a biological reality...Can men get pregnant?”
American ideological divide 😂😂😂
A man went to a bank to complain that his credit card has been stolen for over 5 months & that deductions has been made during this period.
The customer care representative was surprised & asked him with a huge shock. "Why didn't you report it all this time when it was stolen?"
He said, because the thief was spending less than his wife.
Then the customer care asked him even more surprised. "So why are you reporting it now?"
He replied "Because I think the thief's wife is now using the card". 😄😄
While this is humourous, it isn't a joke to ridicule women. This joke teaches the fact that we often accept wrong when it feels lighter than right. We also delay change when pain is still tolerable. We move only when discomfort becomes louder than habit,,, He did not act when the card was stolen, He acted when the pattern broke.
Our brain judges suffering by comparison and not by size,,, So if today’s pain is lighter than yesterday’s, the mind may calls it “okay.” But it doesn't mean all is well.
This is why some people stay in bad jobs because they are better than worse ones. This is why some stay in bad relationships because they are better than lonely ones. Some people accept loss because it hurts less than what they are used to.
Good Morning 🌄
@egi_nupe The question you should ask before defending the case is: who brought in the Brigade of Guards band to the conference? If the NJI, who organized the event, failed to do it's due diligence, it should simply apologize instead of denying what we all saw on TV
May the wrath of Allah be upon every muslim that murdered Deborah and those that supported them.
May the wrath of Allah be upon every muslims that are negotiating with bandit up northern Nigeria and those that supported them.
May the wrath of Allah be upon everyone saying adkhar and muqadimat while committing murder.
May the wrath of Allah be upon everyone who has identified as Muslim just to terrorise this nation.

The newly completed modern mini stadium in Issele-Uku is a symbol of our collective progress in Delta North.
This project was conceived to inspire our youths, promote healthy competition, and strengthen community spirit. It features a standard football pitch, a seven-a-side multi-sports arena, pavilions on both sides, and well-equipped dressing rooms, all designed to create an enabling environment for sports and recreation.
For me, every project is about impact, about giving our people access to facilities that uplift, empower, and unite. With this stadium, we are nurturing the next generation of athletes and leaders who will make Delta North proud.
Our journey of transformation continues, one community at a time.
