@CPGBML The KKE has completed a full historical circle by adopting the same trotskyite positions that had back in the early 1920s. Their position regarding Ukraine unfortunately is just the last straw in a series of deeply revisionist and trotskyite positions throughout the past 30 years
@RedGalanoleukos@AyatollahMarx@AlvaroSilva1906 What flag did the EAM or DSE use in the 40s? Wasn't it our galanolefki? Wasn't it the same flag used by Metaxas, the rightists, the junta, and pretty much everyone in Greece? There are national symbols that people identify with that obviously predate 1917. Nothing wrong with it.
@Amandah20604859@oulosP That is the point tho. To look ridiculous, naughty, and rebellious, once per year, before submerging into the period of utmost humility. It only sounds weird because modern culture has turned what is meant for the carnival into everyday practice (hypersexuality, transvestite etc)
@Amandah20604859@oulosP Yeah, the Carnival is for everyone to dance and mess around, even in ways that are "prohibited" throughout the year, before a period of strict fast and humility, i.e. Lent. It is not about worshipping the pre-Christian deities.
@Raja_Sasamka@oulosP Great! I am happy that Orthodoxy spreads all over the world. The problem is the pseudo-moralism and pseudo-pietism that attack the local traditions and are remnants/influence of Puritanism and Calvinism, and seem to plague many western converts as well as some westernised Greeks.
@Amandah20604859@oulosP Christians celebrate Carnival, even with its most "extreme", "shocking", "dionysian" elements which are the phallic symbols or the scoptic songs, since at least the Byzantine times. You talk about pre-Byzantine, pagan Roman times.
@OrthoxtianJman @oulosP It absolutely has a place. The average Greek, i.e. Orthodox, will take part in such festivities today, and tomorrow on Clean Monday with absolute humility and piety will go to the vespers in Church, and fast for 40 days. Nothing contradictory about it.
