I can't really see something bad happening in the last chapter, but if something happens, my bet is on Maru's choice to spare kalyans' lives.
They slaughter everyone who don't possess the same colors as them and so their true nature is definitely closer to Cursed Spirits than

Yuji will be involved only by setting up countermeasures against low numbers of cursed spirits, similar to how Tengen set up barriers in Heian and was a recluse afterwards.
This might be the fate of Yuji and kalyan: bittersweet, but both of them already know the taste of eternity
