Thank you! In my experience, you need to study 3 things: composition, color, and light-shadow contrasts. Human figures and anatomy aren't as important as youd think. You can make a memorable and outstanding painting with just those 3 things.
Paint a variety of things. Nature, still lives, people, interiors, exteriors, anything. Analyse. And finally, don't stress it. It's never going to be perfect. If you like reading, i recommend David Hockneys (rest in peace) book "A History of Pictures"
And most importantly, experiment. Try all mediums, you never know what you end up loving. Don't try to find a "style". Theres no such thing as that. Painters may have unique gestures and understanding of shapes, but focusing on developing a "style" rots your creativity.
