Jamie is a top lad—massive respect to him for opening up about his experiences as a young footballer in the ’90s. That can’t have been easy. Another brilliant piece from @TheAthletic—well worth a read, and I’d highly recommend subscribing if you’re into sport.

“They were the worst minutes of my life.”
Having just turned 18, Jamie Mitchell looked like becoming a Premier League star with Norwich City.
But in the lead up to Christmas 1994 he was subjected to a ritual humiliation in the dressing room that left him psychologically scarred — and his career derailed.
Mitchell opens up about his traumatic experiences to @JordanC1107, and explains why he has founded an organisation to support young players navigate their own challenges.

@tsrunseen Great pic. Does anyone know where it was taken? There was a good set of pics taken in Glasgow around this period, but I'm not sure if this is.
@ianbrown Superb pic. Wasn't too long before we saw you and the lads in Shetland - July 14th, 1998.
My best pals band supported you - Seventh Seal, and we met you all after the gig at my other best pals' house! Unbelievable for us at the time. @McGhee1979
@JamesMclou45430@90sfootball I guess there'd be an argument that R9 could be considered.
The easy counter to that would be it wasn't prime R9, and he wasn't there for very long.
