The Founders never intended for government to help a handful of powerful insiders get rich off the backs of working Americans.

Here’s my vision:

Federal healthcare dollars should go directly to you. Not your insurance company. Not a bureaucrat. You.

You choose your doctor. You choose your treatment. You control your healthcare.

That isn’t radical. That’s what freedom actually looks like.

Rhode Islanders — the government and a boardroom full of executives should not be making your medical decisions.

I remember 2013, right after Bill de Blasio became Mayor. I was a Sergeant in Brooklyn.

My team was working on a pattern of vehicle break ins occurring in a neighborhood. The night before, I changed our tour to put cops in the area at the exact time the crimes were happening.

Late that night we spotted a guy walking down the block, peeking into car windows and checking door handles.

At one point he stopped, pulled out a blunt, and started smoking marijuana right on the street. When he finished, he put it in his pocket and kept walking and continued casing vehicles.

I had a young cop with me who was new to plainclothes work. He attempted to jump the guy too early, and we got made before we had enough to charge the individual for a car break in.

So I made the call.

We locked him up for smoking marijuana in public, which allowed us to identify him and search him for property connected to other break ins from the pattern.

This also gave us an opportunity to see if he would confess to the prior crimes or give us intelligence related to those and other crimes.

He didn’t have anything on him, and he didn’t confess or give us any info but that night there were no car break ins and the pattern died after that arrest.

The next day I was called into my Commanding Officer’s office.

Instead of asking about the crime pattern, I got a lecture about not locking up “black and brown people” for marijuana because they are locked up at disproportionate rates for this specific offense.

I remember responding:

“Black and brown people are locked up at disproportionate rates for major crimes like Rape and Robbery also, are you suggesting I only lock up white people?”

He told me I should use more discretion for minor offenses.

I told him:

“I didn’t lock him up for marijuana. I locked him up for breaking into cars. Marijuana was just the only charge I had at the moment.”

I also stated that he wasn’t just a dumb kid smoking marijuana, he had a lengthy criminal history and I observed him engaging in current criminal behavior.

I walked out of that office confused.

I remember thinking: How far is this not well thought out ideology going to go?

Now, more than a decade late, we have the answer.

Seth Magaziner’s excuse that he’s staying in Rhode Island to “help his neighbors” with snow is not remotely believable. He could have had a friend or a staff member help shovel.

The State of the Union is a constitutional duty. He should be there to represent his constituents. All of them.

What he actually chose to do was skip it and publicly insult the @realDonaldTrump by calling him a lunatic. That’s a political stunt, not leadership. Rhode Islanders deserve a representative who shows up and focuses on real results instead of name calling.

And let’s be clear: 42 percent of Rhode Island voters chose Donald Trump for President. Magaziner is slapping all of us in the face. He’d rather stick to partisan talking points than listen, learn, and find real solutions for the people he’s supposed to represent.

Rhode Island deserves better.

Trump just declared glyphosate a national-defense priority.

It doesn’t give explicit legal immunity —
but it does open the same escape route used for vaccine shields, military contractor shields, and PFAS shields:

“We were required to make it; liability belongs to the government.”

Once a chemical is tied to national defense, banning or regulating it becomes far harder — and the industry gains powerful new protection.
