@ALibraryscience Easy to justify the expense if you are able to get kids reading. If you are also getting kids visually literate: value added. And manga/GN have been shown to raise levels of both literacy and visual literacy. AND they are popular. So there’s not much to justify, is there?
Take what you need. Give what you can. Our well-being wall in @NIS_Secondary is just what we need!! Thank you to our new associate principal Ms. N. for helping us find space to care. #NISinclude#NIScares
@CFletcherHT Thanks @CFletcherHT! I did a version of the Eight Queens Puzzle from this set with my Dad back in the day. I think some of these might be useful for the lower grades too, for students who want to stretch themselves and need practice with word problems in English.
@sksgrigsby Happy birthday! I didn’t realize you got into international education relatively recently. You seem like an awesome world traveler to me. 🌍
Students started arriving at 8:10 this morning and one by one they picked up a book and started reading quietly. My heart! ❤️ 📚 ❤️ #reading#readinggivesyousuperpowers
A great team. Aichi medical university hospital staff, NIS volunteers, volunteers from our TISA partner schools and @ACCJChubu, our friends from Cerespo. 1000 vaccinations from this amazing team! #NISoutreach
All NIS teachers are teachers of language. Getting ready to support the multiple language profiles of students with a ‘can do’ approach that builds a value-added diverse language community and a strong sense of identity in our learners #NISinclude
@enkibalama@Andrew_Levidis Every part of every person *counts*. My original objection is that someone would be considered a *poor choice* despite their obvious achievements and their stated allegiances because of where they grew up or the color of their skin.
If you’d like to hear white guy @WillSwanton mansplain why tennis star Naomi Osaka isn’t Japanese enough to be a good choice to represent the Olympics in the spirit of internationalism and good will, feel free to subscribe to The Australian and read his trash. No way I am.
@Andrew_Levidis How Australian is Will Swanton, to be questioning the ethnicity of a multicultural young lady who has had more success bridging cultures than he ever will in his sad life? I always roll my eyes when a super entitled white male sports journalist says stuff like this.
Job done! 1000 community members now vaccinated! A massive community effort. Fantastic volunteering spirit from our friends across Nagoya. Well done everyone! We did it! #NISoutreach@ACCJChubu
