🚨 NIGER 🇳🇪 : FPL promet une grande opération pour renverser la junte de Tiani

Mohamed Salah, secrétaire général du Front Patriotique pour la Libération (#FPL), libéré il y a un mois, le 22 juin 2026, par les forces du maréchal Haftar en réponse de la libération par la junte nigérienne de Barkadine Mahamat Rifi, chef de la katiba libyenne « Ahrar Fazzan », très recherché par Haftar, annonce une mobilisation générale et une grande opération imminente contre la junte militaire au Niger.

Selon lui, cette opération vise à rétablir la liberté et la démocratie. Son mouvement est actif au Niger depuis le coup d'État du gardien Abdourahamane Tiani contre son président Mohamed Bazoum.

Le FPL affirme également avoir pour objectif de libérer le président Mohamed Bazoum, le seul président légitime du Niger, démocratiquement élu par le peuple nigérien.

Le Sahel pourrait bientôt connaître une nouvelle escalade, de #Niamey à #Bamako, de #Ouagadougou à #Gao.

Des sources bien informées indiquent qu’un groupe de détenus a été libéré au Niger. Parmi eux figure un officier nommé Bahr Eddine Midoun, originaire de la tribu des Ouled Slimane, ainsi que 21 autres prisonniers.

Selon ces mêmes sources, cette libération aurait été obtenue grâce à l’intervention du dirigeant touareg Akli Chekka, une personnalité influente de stature internationale disposant d’un vaste réseau de relations.
Certains médias occidentaux le surnomment « la boîte noire du Sahara ».

Les sources ajoutent que le Gouvernement d’unité nationale libyen, par l’intermédiaire du ministère de la Défense dirigé par Abdessalam Zoubi, serait parvenu à un accord avec le Niger. Cet accord comprendrait des engagements en matière de coopération militaire, d’échanges sécuritaires et d’assistance économique, en contrepartie de la libération de ces détenus.

Une enquête de Forbidden Stories révèle un système clandestin de détention et de torture au Mali, inspiré des méthodes utilisées par les forces russes en Ukraine.

Témoignages : noyades simulées, électrocutions et musique russe diffusée à plein volume pour couvrir les cris des détenus.

Au moins six bases auraient été identifiées comme des lieux de détention et de torture, notamment à San, Sévaré et Kidal.

L'enquête met également en cause la complicité des forces maliennes lors de patrouilles conjointes et dans des bases où ces exactions auraient été commises.

Depuis Août 2024, le groupe Wagner a été remplacé par l'Africa Corps, placé sous le contrôle direct du ministère russe de la Défense.

Les crimes documentés au Mali ne doivent pas rester impunis. Des enquêtes indépendantes et des poursuites internationales sont nécessaires.

The Director of the National Counter-Terrorism Fusion Centre, Major General Timothy Ba-Taa-Banah, says terrorist attacks across Africa increased by 14% in the first half of 2026, with an average of 45 deaths recorded daily.

Speaking at the Sahel Peace Initiative in Accra, he further revealed that nearly 99,000 people have been killed in terrorist attacks across the Sahel over the past decade, urging Ghanaians to remain vigilant and support security agencies in preventing terrorist infiltration.

A few points need clarification:

1) How much foreign exchange did GoldBod generate in 2025? The GANRAP document and GoldBod’s public reports indicate US$10 billion. However, the Minister of Finance, in discussing GoldBod’s contribution to Ghana’s improved external sector performance yesterday, mentioned $15 billion. Does the $15 billion figure include inflows from this year?

2) Is the current targeted program implementation cost 5% or 6%? Your post states 6%, while the Mid-Year Review indicates 5%.

3) Where does the 14% baseline program come from? Is it the cost before GoldBod was established, or the average cost since its establishment? If it’s the latter, does that imply it cost about $1.4 billion to generate $10 billion in foreign exchange last year? That would be significantly higher than what has been communicated publicly before. For instance GANRAP says 2025 was a cost of 214m to bring in 10 billion of forex.

I’m looking forward to hearing more from the Bank of Ghana about why foreign reserves declined between March and June, from 5.7 months of import cover to 5 months, despite significant increases in gold exports in the period.

Under the Ghana Accelerated National Reserve Accumulation Program (GANRAP), the objective is to build foreign reserves, not draw them down. The target is to reach at least 8.6 months of import cover by the end of the year.

A decline from 5.7 to 5 months by the end of the first half of the year puts us much farther from that year-end target.

What explains the decline?

The era of Ghana’s other sovereign wealth fund, the Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF), collecting royalties and dividends from large-scale mines on behalf of the state, announcing impressive “profits”, and embarking on PR campaigns appears to be continuing under the new management.

Meanwhile, MIIF still has not published any audited financial statements on its website beyond the 2022 accounts. The 2024 financial statements, which became the subject of public disagreement between the current and former management and board, are still not publicly available.

Yet, the Fund has been issuing media statements about making significant profits in 2025. I’m pretty sure that none of the media houses reporting those claims has actually seen the audited financial statements.

Transparency should come before publicity.

By now, MIIF should be financing more indigenous Ghanaian mining firms, especially at a time when the state is seeking to capture more value from the country’s gold resources!
