@dimgrr@USMortality Treatments matter but if conditions are good, people don't fall ill and recover faster regardless of treatment in hospitals. Epidemiologically small things matter. For example duration of bad conditions, timing of a school break in relation to the worst weather conditions, etc.
@dimgrr@USMortality It was and it still is mostly about weather, favouring or not favouring catching cold and falling ill. North of Italy had terrible conditions for about a month and people fell ill in herds. Southern part had beautiful spring. Netherlands had such conditions for a short while.
@ClareCraigPath For Northern Europe, the winter 2019/20 was exceptionally soft. This was most probably a major reason why substantial number of elderly survived. Dec21-Feb22 had massively fluctuating atmospheric pressure naturally passing away lots of people with heart conditions.

Stores, schools and new residential buildings may have 20% RH inside the next day when AH drops to respective level but RH in older houses stays higher for weeks.

It then depends on the homeostatic capacity of an individual if the epithelium is able to adjust. Older people have more problems with homeostasis typically.

People adjust the temperature to the comfort zone because they feel the deviation immediately. They are more tolerant towards changing AH and react usually when damage is already done.
