I kinda understand Jay tbh. She was portrayed as someone who was so sure of herself, coming from an old rich family background, and definitely with a lot of ego and pride – like someone who is very transactional when dealing with other people. The only exception to this I would say would be her aunt who raised her after her parents died and Chan who was her first love.

Imagine her then discovering that her aunt only saw her as a tool and that her relationship with Chan was only tolerated because of Chan's background. That's why it also makes sense that she didn't ask Chan for help. She didn't want to taint that relationship because that's the only good thing she had going on for herself at that point. And because it was now revealed that this is how her aunt thought about her and her relationship with Chan, she knew that if she gives in now, it would only be a cycle and she didn't want her relationship with Chan to be strained by something that even she believes is not her fault.

There's something intentional about how they showed two separate scenes with her aunt and how the money problem progressed. In the first one, she refused her aunt and challenged using Chan or getting help from her but then she was told that the aunt only let them continue their relationship because she knows Chan can be useful to her. The next scene is when things started to get dire and Jay was gaslighted by her aunt into marrying another person to solve her problems. Her aunt used Jay's indebtedness to her to coax her into it.

Jay knew that if she told Chan then she definitely would've helped her. No doubt about that. But we need to remember that these characters are flawed and each with their own personal traumas as well. If she has already decided that she didn't want to involve Chan in her problems then it wouldn't make sense for her to tell Chan about it. Jay is a proud woman and that I think was the start of the downfall of her relationship with Chan.
