May 1st is #FirstResponderDay in Ontario. Today we recognize the firefighters, fire, police & ambulance dispatchers, paramedics, & police officers dedicating their lives to the service of others. Together they keep our communities safe - thank you @FPSParamedics@KingstonPolice2
Thinking about first responders from this call as they navigate their response to this terrible tragedy. Dispatchers, firefighters, paramedics & police worked tirelessly to save lives & tragically 3 were lost; sending condolences to their families
Take care of each other
Today, our community faced an unimaginable tragedy. Over 20 Hamilton Paramedic units responded to a devastating structure fire that claimed young lives and left many others injured. This heartbreaking event has deeply affected everyone involved.
Our thoughts are with the victims, their loved ones, and the entire community as we navigate this immense loss together.
We also want to acknowledge the incredible teamwork displayed by our first responder family. Hamilton Fire, Hamilton Police, and our Paramedic crews worked tirelessly under extremely difficult circumstances. These moments remind us of the emotional and physical toll our teams endure to serve and protect.
To our responders: Please take care of yourselves and each other. Lean on the support available to you—we are stronger together.
To our community: Hold your loved ones a little tighter tonight. Let’s unite in supporting those affected by this tragedy.

Sending prayers & condolences to the family of Brother Chris Francescone of Belleville Fire where he was an Officer, union leader, mentor & friend to all. Chris worked fiercely for the @opffa as DVP & Sec/Treas. Your passion & dedication won’t be matched, Rest Easy Brother #LODD
🚨Know CO. Carbon Monoxide is a silent Killer. No Taste, No Sound, No Smell.
It’s the law to have CO alarms in all homes with fuel-burning appliances, fireplaces, or attached garages.
🚗🏠 Test CO Alarms monthly and change the batteries once a year.
#KnowCOSafety#COSafety
Tonight our clocks go ahead back, but before that:
> change the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors
> check the date in your detectors, replace them after 10 years
>check the pressure in your fire extinguishers

OH DEER! Yesterday fire crews responded to St Mary’s Church in #ygk to help this little guy out of a tight spot. Our Communications Technicians made all the right calls and with the help of @ONresources he was relocated to a much safer spot! #MoreThanFires@opffa@IAFFCanada
🛑 Your family’s safety depends on the choices you make today. Test your smoke alarms every month and replace them every 10 years to ensure they’re ready to protect when it matters. Don’t wait for a fire to find out they don’t work—take action now.
