Here's a reframe for understanding basically everything wrong with the country right now.

We think we have a racial and political divide. We do not. We have a broken mating system (marriage).

When men and women have adequate mating strategies, they put their focus on mating, and in so doing they become biologically satisfied. Or at least it keeps them busy.

But when mating strategies fail -- for a variety of social reasons, like now -- men become dangerous and women become batshit crazy and start defending DEI and open borders and anything else that increases the odds of women being around additional sperm.

What we think we see is Democrats versus Republicans. That's the downstream effect. But it's really a mating failure that turned Democrats into the woman party and Republicans into the man party.

Democrat men are pleasers, so they play along with the single women to increase their mating options. Republican women are inclined to back their protectors, which is also a good mating strategy.

I’ve shared this before, but it’s worth sharing again.

A brief word to seminary students/aspiring pastors:

92% of all churches in the US have an average weekly worship attendance of below 250.

68% of them have an average of below 100.

31% are below 50.

Facts: the likelihood of you pastoring a large church of 250+ is extremely slim.

This means you must adjust your expectations immediately and do all you can now to learn how to pastor small to mid-size churches, many of which are in dire need of revitalization.

This may not be the world of pastoral ministry you want to live in, but rest assured that it is indeed the world you live in.

Invest now in developing a love for God’s Word, an intimate care for God’s people, a passion to lead in evangelism and discipleship, and an others-focused mentality that is prepared to serve in hard ways. All while most likely serving as the only full-time staff person in the church, or even co-vocationally.

The task will be hard. But with your Chief Shepherd, it will not be impossible. And the reward will be great. Prepare accordingly.
