I'm releasing a new epic fantasy over on Royalroad!
It's a heroic fantasy tale of adventure with my style of progression system. LitRPG without the numbers. I've got something I think is a little better instead.
Goblin slaying awaits in the link below!
It's the lighting.
I'm willing to bet the model is entirely spot on, the problem is the creative direction to do "realistic" lighting instead of manipulating the light to create the desired impression.
Games are art and art is not beholden to strict reality.
The new God of War Faye spin-off is getting huge backlash for making the in-game character way uglier than Deborah Ann Woll, the voice and motion-capture actress behind Faye.
Sony did it again, you can thank the usual consultants
@georgecursor You seem to have failed to understand my point.
I'm not saying they didn't make the character ugly. I'm identifying the mechanism they used.
I am attacking the very assumption that what they did is justified.
This is the kind of factoid that makes me tell people that if they want to write fantasy, they should study history.
If this doesn't give you plot ideas, you might be in trouble.
King of Sweden figured this out 500+ years ago to price cargo value for import taxes
1. You declare the assessed value of your asset, you pay the tax on your assessed value
2. The king has the right to buy the asset at the declared value

@fandompulse@InfinitaleComic WotC has an obsession with puns. There's probably something quite broken with their work culture. It's not just a pride thing.
I need to reach the mtg players. I'm in need of a storage box for 8 commander decks, with room for archenemy cards, and doesn't result in them getting damaged like the shit box I bought from Microcenter.
Any recommendations?
So I was talking to a coworker about one of my stories. Two months went by without seeing him (different ends of the office) but when he caught me, the first thing he said was bringing up my story because he had still been thinking about it.
That's gotta be a good sign.
@DracoWrites7 Okay first of all, Dragon Ball Z is still from the same Dragon Ball manga.
Second of all, the ability to circumvent them does not mean they're meaningless. Nobody thinks power level is a deterministic predictor of the winner (except powerscalers). They are a communication tool.
@DracoWrites7 That is incomplete. You're thematically correct about overcoming limitations, but;
They exist to efficiently tell the reader "X can probably beat Y", and thus define the tension points and relevant plot beats. Same as (well written) game elements in litRPG.
@tuckerlindgren I think you've reached too far with this one.
You'd be better off doing this skits as "trying to explain to your new friend that you're not cheating."
Like casting Take the Bait after combat damage has been dealt
@cglassey_author It is a reflection of the real world, but that does not necessitate that any Earth culture exists in surrogate form among the xenos. If you tried mapping the xenos to real cultures, you'd realize you're being absurd, or insanely racist.
